I'm not the one who mentioned it...the other guy did. That's your overbearing governor who himself feeds on tragedy to hurt people's way of life for big government.

but anyways, I'll stop on that.

It will be interesting to hear the answer as to how the intensity forecast was so woefully off

Same reason it's always off when a storm blows up - you don't really know when they'll stop. They have models that explicitly look for chances to undergo rapid intensification, and those were quite promising for Laura, but even the doomcane models underestimated these numbers.

Because computer models are unreliable on intensity forecasting.

But why? I mean they are going to end up being completely off. A near Cat 5, when just 2 days ago was a cat 2 at the most?

People went from preparing for Cat 2 to legendary status in 24-36hrs

I fear the death toll from this will be bad. I hope I’m wrong, but I fear a lot of people chose to ride it out and now it’s ramped up so fast this afternoon it might have been too late. Now it’s really too late as roads are flooding already blocking folks in.

If it does then I will be pissed off. All the experts and such were 110% dead set on a extreme SW LA landfall. They still are too. Maybe the special advisory will address it.

It's a reminder than man cannot fully ever know everything with these storms.

That reminds me of an old couple the weather channel interviewed in Gulfport before Katrina who said they were riding out the storm on the beach in their truck. I don't think they made it..

Give them the "Here's a marker and write your SSN on your forearm speech."

Because in about ~6 hours things are gonna be drastically different.
