A bit off topic, but I have never seen high tension power pole/line damage like what I saw after the April 27, 2011 Hackleburg tornado crossed the TN river and took out several near the Nuclear Plant. They were bent over like they were toys. Just folded over double and twisted. I am still amazed by the pictures.

Now imagine that from Cocodrie, LA to North of Alexandria for Gustav

Imo if you’re a hotel owner in an area that’s getting a ton of evacuees and you don’t let the “no pets” rule slide, or at the least allow them with an extra cleaning charge, you’re a piece of shite along with the price gougers. These people might lose everything. Give them shelter with their pet it’s not a big deal.
Amen.

It’s concerning that the traffic on i-10 is light. People must not be leaving.

Eric Berger is going off on how Houston needs to be saying prayers of thanks we dodged this one. Says the city is completely unprepared for a storm like Laura and this should be the warning shot to push the city into action

I mean, short of completely redesigning infrastructure to the tune of billions of dollars what can you really do to "prepare" for a monster major hurricane?

Good share.

I grabbed your link when you shared it earlier in the thread too. Very interesting work being done on that. Are you involved in it at all?

It's crazy how far inland some cities will feel at least Cat 1 hurricane winds. Shreveport and even Texarkana will get hurricane force winds.

I worked Hurricane Michael and bent waist structures (metal lattice kind) were twisted into hunks of junk. Concrete TLine structures were snapped 15ft up. I was amazed we rebuilt what we did in 3 weeks.

2020 has gone full blown nuts with people evacuating to NOLA for a hurricane.

Crazy that the biggest economic stimulus to the area since March is people going there FOR a hurricane

We may need a ruling. I believe it is the actual act of calling out wishcasting. In which case, you would have provided the BINGO.

My boss just told everyone this thing was jogging to the right. I work in o&g so I’m not sure where he’s getting his weather from. I’ve seen nothing saying that posted here. Is there any truth to it?

Did I hear right that Dumb Bel said the entire National Guard has been activated? Has that been done before for a storm besides Katrina/Rita?

I'm in the industry. over 425 plants have shuttered in the path. That is 200 plus chem plants, 200 plus petro plants and the rest misc and power.

I was talking about this with some people that handle the East Texas area at my office

We were wondering what percentage of the USA’s Petrochemical production was possibly in the path A few days out when Freeport to SWLA was all possible

Prior to Katrina I told my mom she had no choice and that I was coming to get her. She had two choices,
she could go willingly or I was going to actually carry her out to my truck.

How much money would it take for someone to ride the storm out atop the shaky I-10 bridge in Lake Charles?

Assuming it won't collapse.
