I would expect an additional 2-3 feet just south of the levee versus without from what I have seen from a number of models

Good luck guys. It looks like this is going to be a bad one. Stay safe and may God protect you.

Where is the closest place I am to cool weather in Austin? If I’m going to be displaced for 3 weeks, I rather be somewhere with more pleasant weather.

Find the nearest 8000 ft mountain. Probably NM or Big Bend

We already have two feet of water south of the levee system in Dulac on Four point road. anticipating about 6 overall based on prior storms. I believe the street had near 8' for Rita, but we did not have a camp at the time and there was no levee to stack up water.

My neighbors and I left our boats in Theriot. Unless the levee breaks you should be ok on this go round

The Mississippi gulf coast is the perfect setup for a massive storm surge. 20 feet in this part of the state is pretty much maxing out.

FIL had a place in Diamondhead reduced to slab (along with hundreds of other pieces of property on the water). Huge fight with the insurance companies over flood v wind. Never rebuilt and sold the property for pennies on the dollar.

I'm sure there's significant relief at 7,000 ft.
Probably in the 50s at night.
