No, but now picture yourself shipwrecked, alone, and hanging on to said buoy in the dark of night as a hurricane approaches.
Now THAT...weirds me out.
I'm fairly confident that if I remain where I am currently, sitting on my porch, that will never happen.
Thanks for the nightmare, though.

105 mph wind average in the last 150 meters. Oh boy.

The Big O is 72 feet above sea level. That’s higher than Baton Rouge. They may have to pick up pecan limbs Thursday. But they’ll be fine.
All the main roads in Opelousas flood regularly with bad regular storms, so much they have put in permanent "high water" signs on union and 190, I wouldn't say this is going to bode well

This is getting a little too creepypasta for me. Night all.

There's a movie where we get to see Blake Lively cling to a buoy for 2 hours trying to escape a shark.

Still looks like a touch of sheer if I am learning anything from here and Levi.

Global models don't resolve gusts over land very well
Are they typically too high or too low? Is there a meso model that's useful?

It kind of bothers me we can't/don't keep constant recon in a storm when it gets into the GOM.

It's not, because the wind you're seeing is just from the storm its self.
You've got the idea though if you looked at an area averaged sounding (click and drag a box on the GFS on tropicaltidbits over the entire storm) you could probably pick out some wind shear.

Should send some drone boats in there for constant surface readings

Thanks for your kind words and prayers. I'm trying to be optimistic. I'm just so worried for him.

Your husband will be fine. There are plenty of safe places for him to go if things get really bad.
