Waiting on this eye to form is giving me serious blue balls, but I think it's finally happening.

If all you knew of Lake Charles was TWC standups, you'd think it was pretty nice.

Coming home after Rita and being able to see across LCH with all the trees gone is unforgettable. Aunt had 16 trees down near the country club, several of them on her house. Really dreading pulling back into town.

Do you have a wind field map after the latest update? Also when will the next runs come out from the different models?

HMON going nuts with 125 knot Cat 4 on this run. I guess it is possible, but I surely hope not for everyone in harm's way.

Showed my wife this and now she's freaking out that we're in NOLA. She's worried it'd make a drastic change and head right for us. Says we should have gone to Dallas. It's her first Hurricane.

Stupid question, since Calcasieu Parish is under a mandatory evac, do hotels stay open or they can still have guests?

This is all I could find from a Fla hotel/explanation example
LINK
quote:

“We’re on a barrier island. Anything stronger than a Category 1 storm, and there’s a mandatory evacuation. We don’t have to worry about anything after that for guests. If it’s a 2 or more, we have to evacuate staff and guests.”

LA 14 to US 90 is definitely the first alternate.

Holly Beach will likely be washed away in this one for good.

The Sulphur baws really do need to watch out for surge AND winds. I fear catastrophic damage to many homes.

Holly Beach won’t be COMPLETELY wiped out like Rita. When Rita came through, it was nothing but trailers. Since then, there’s been some FINE homes built down there. Not saying they won’t sustain heavy damage, but I’ve been told the codes to rebuild down there were insane. But people did it and built some beautiful structures. Not many, but some.

As for Sulphur, Rita pushed water up close to I-10. If I remember correctly, it stopped around Fisherman’s HQ, in that general area. My brother loves south of I-10 and some more family down that way as well.

It’s going to be a stressful next few days/weeks, I’m afraid.
