They acknowledged Rita was bad enough to them in VP, so they're expecting that level of problems again.. This will probably be similar for them, depending on final track.

After experiencing a tornado about a block from my house twice in my lifetime I'm not one to tempt mother nature

You've made the best decision you can for your family. Everything else is out of your control. Try to get some sleep now; that can do wonders for the nerves.

You know how mad I'd be if I paid for weather services drawn on MS Paint?

You're right. I was not exact enough in my statement because it does get shallow close to the coast. Good looking out.

Though that is in the positive category, for sure, Laura will be a fast mover and won't likely feel much negative impact from it prior to landfall.

I’ve learned whatever Andrew and Gustav was to BR (where I’m from), Rita was to these people in LC.

With all due respect to BR, Rita was 5x worse for LC.

I understand your anxiety is through the roof, but you'll almost certainly have a house to go to Friday.

I saw that. Man this is depressing. That map the other guy posted showed 9nfeet surge all the way up to moss bluff? I have a sister that's up there. But they evacuated.

Winds picking up at the Mid-Gulf buoy as Laura is getting closer. She's about 40 miles from the buoy and will pass about 25 miles to the SW of the buoy at closest approach.

If you compare it to Rita, just sporadic downed trees and power poles. I think 1/4 of LUS customers lost power for Rita

=( Same here. I lost my home to Ike. I now live between Ryan and Common around midtown and I can't stop thinking about coming back to a home with 6ft of water or even nothing again. It sucks. I hope the best for your family.
