Understand. Thanks. I was trying to find those cool graphics but couldn’t. Appreciate it.
They're on Weather.us for anyone to use. This is the most recent GFS. Possibly a little conservative for wind gusts, but you get the idea:

I really do need to commit myself to learning Knots to MPH.

The Big O is 72 feet above sea level. That’s higher than Baton Rouge. They may have to pick up pecan limbs Thursday. But they’ll be fine.

Yeah, close to Holmwood.
Holmwood fared well with Rita. All wind damage unless you aren't on the "Daughenbaugh Ridge".

Global models don't resolve gusts over land very well. Probably not a realistic expectation on that Euro run.

Do knots to KPH and save the conversion

Sure no flood threat other than flash floods. I'm just being a nervous ninny probably, but that's a big storm and if it tracks more towards LC then places like VP need to be concerned as well.

Anybody else weirded out by the fact that somewhere in the vast emptiness of the ocean, there's a fricking mile long chain tied to the sea floor with bucket bobbing up and down at the surface?

my folks are staying in Opelousas and VP, and I haven't been able to convince them otherwise. If this track holds up or of it shifts any more east it's not gonna be pretty in that area either.
I'm in eunice and I'm getting nervous with these east shifts

I’m more disturbed we’re relying on that for our data

Easiest way without phone or computer is to take knots plus 10% of knots plus half of that to get total.
50 knots = 50 + 5 + 2.5 = 58 mph

No, but now picture yourself shipwrecked, alone, and hanging on to said buoy in the dark of night as a hurricane approaches.
Now THAT...weirds me out.

Well....no, not until you brought it up.

That's what I'm afraid of. I live in south LC, east of the airport. My nerves are shot. I probably won't have a house after tomorrow night. The kids and I are up in Fort Worth, but the SO is still down there... He works in law enforcement.
We were in the same boat exactly three years today, the sun will come up, you will cry with what you find and then roll your sleeves and get to work building your new future, it's what survivors do. You and your family will be in our prayers, thank you husband for his service, he is going to have some long days ahead of him.

The angle is different but it looks like landfall and strength will similar to Audrey.
Thankfully with forecasting it won’t be the same result of 400+ dead.
