Cameron and Grand Chenier never really rebuilt after Rita. Those people relocated inland to Grand Lake area. I'm not sure there is much there to wipe out again.

Which allegedly caused Rita to be downgraded to a 3. Makes me wonder (and hope) if it can happen again here.

Do you have one for anticipated wind speed and/or gust? I don’t know where to find it. Not the probability but the actual projections. Starting to worry the M will blow the H over.
Kind of a weird deal here - the GFS is the most similar to the NHC track, but the max gusts it predicts are below the sustained winds the NHC is predicting. In other words, using it to predict the gusts is conservative, but using anything else is using the wrong area.

Parents are in VP — they will never leave but they’re at least going to my brothers home where there is only one tree as opposed to about 10 years their home. Mom doesn’t want to go but I told my dad to remind her about the tornado in May of 2019 and how flipped out she was.

Does anyone know if Jay Grimes has rolled his sleeves up yet?

That's what I'm afraid of. I live in south LC, east of the airport. My nerves are shot. I probably won't have a house after tomorrow night. The kids and I are up in Fort Worth, but the SO is still down there... He works in law enforcement.

What's so funny is the eye is going to be bigger than these 10 mile shifts. Might matter for the Triangle but doesn't really change the game east of the Sabine.
That's the main takeaway people are missing. We aren't likely to see any drastic shifts one way or the other. Impacts are going to be substantial for anyone close to landfall with this one. A few miles one way or another doesn't change the preparations or plan to evacuate really. It is all going to be varying degrees of shite.

In a serious note, my folks are staying in Opelousas and VP, and I haven't been able to convince them otherwise.
Eh
Only danger there is tornados and TS winds
And likely to lose power for a bit

Understand. Thanks. I was trying to find those cool graphics but couldn’t. Appreciate it.

Don't mean any disrespect to anyone on that track as I realize people are going to lose their personal lives/possessions/etc. over there...but if it's going to hit someone that's one of the lower population areas.

I don’t know if anyone caught it, but they increased the possible surge from 9-11 ft. to 9-14 ft.

It’s very shallow from 100 miles out into the coast south of Cameron
