Back in the days when the modeling wasn't what it is now, I always breathed a sigh of relief when a hurricane moving partially east to west and partially south to north passed 90 degrees west. Don't have to rely on that kind of stuff anymore but it's good to see that it's almost there.

Prayers for safety for our brothers in west La and east Texas.

Yeah that ridge along TX coast has me a little concerned about pushing storm to NE sooner than predicted. Regardless, state line going to have a bad day.

another square for bingo

Need to add a square for the completely clueless ones that come in here and ask if their travel plans will be affected because they happen to be traveling directly into the path of a hurricane. Completely clueless.

What happened to Stu? Did he just retire?
I liked him. He was a non-nonsense guy. Probably not dramatic enough for the new TWC management.

From Eric at Space City Weather:

quote:

All of the 18z model guidance for Laura has shifted eastward this evening. Most solutions are now just east of the Texas-Louisiana border. This is a positive trend for Houston, obviously, and there is a non-zero chance that Beaumont escapes the worst winds and surge from Laura.
