We evacuated to BR for Rita — brother in law lives at bluebonnet at highlands and they lost power there for several hours. Don’t think it was more than that from what I remember but I think it happened a couple of times.

Should I put much stock into the last couple runs of the Euro? 90-100 mph gusts. The GFS/NHC winds of 50-70 don't bother me but getting up into triple digits puckers the ole butthole.
Oh, I dunno anything about that.

Looks like she is getting her act together.

Used my whole house generator for 10 days after Katrina. Everyone was screwing with me when I built my house and wired it from the start to accommodate a transfer switch. They weren't screwing with me after the storm
I hear you...it's just a joke that we have with my friends that once you bite the bullet and spend the money on a whole home generator you'll never need it.......

Rita came closer to eastern la coast as well
It was very windy but not much rain
My main concern is rain bands with potential tornados that could extend further East

The storms going off around the southwestern edge are no bueno.

Buy a couple window units and store them in your attic. They take up a lot less space and work better than those stand up units they sell for the most part.
I like the portable ones (they sometimes sell as dehumidifiers) because I can just push them into any room I'm in.

Heading up there in about an hour.
No way triple digits that far inland

I just crank it up and I can run extension cords to my deep freeze, refrigerator, a couple of lights and phone chargers and even run DirecTV.
I'd ditch all of that shite and run the AC.

Eye forming and looking at the visible satellite she’s moving more NW. The next 12 hours will be very interesting

Medic, what are you guessing for landfall?
Posted on 8/25/20 at 2:32 pm to GEAUXmedic
Just look at the remnant low from Marco still spinning just south of Vermillion Bay at the start of the video loop you posted. It's still moving west and wind shear above it is still visible.

I bought this one from Lowes last July before Barry and returned it after I didn't need it
I see the downvotes but it's not my fault that "wouldn't run properly" was translated by them to mean "broke". They're the ones who made the decision to not take the initiative to test it before putting it back on the sales floor.

Indeed.
The trajectory of Laura is completely different than Rita. They can nudge the landfall either way, SWLA is going to take a pretty big hit.
Makes me wonder if coming straight from the south pushes MORE water than Rita considering she came in at a NW angle. Laura is going to be straight north for the most part.
Posted on 8/25/20 at 2:33 pm to LSURussian
That looks more north to me those last couple of frames

Sure looks that way. Hopefully just a big wobble.

Wow, you can still clearly see what's left of Marco
