If it's farther north than expected then the potential for a more western turn will be decreased, correct?

Can’t anyone explain the different satellite imagery products and why you would use one vs. the other.

Longwave IR vs. Dvorak?

Longwave is checking temperatures of the clouds. Colder cloud tops typically leads to stronger storms. Means more of the heat energy is being turned into organization and winds. The Dvorak is an IR product, but with a specific color scheme that's used to estimate hurricane strength where there is no recon.

Shortwave on like Levi's site is just another IR product but just shows temperature as brightness of white and is switched to for the visible when the sun goes down.

Water Vapor gives a look into the upper levels and lets you see things like troughs and outflow from the hurricane. The GOES 16 (fancy satellite) has three levels of water vapor to help find areas of drier air at different levels.

How is that place? Right down Ella from there

Chill spot. Patio is great when weather is nice. Small inside. Rarely gets too crowded. Great food. Drinks can pricey but decent specials. Always has the game on outside...whatever game that may be

have a kid at RICE.. should I tell him to stay in Houston with family or head to Ft. Worth with other family? I am thinking ride it out in Houston and then leave after if the infrastructure is screwed up. RICE is in The Medical Center so power would probably be on quickly compared to othwr areas.

I’m not planning on leaving. I have feeling it’s going to be an absolute mess getting out and I personally like to be here to mitigate damage.

That’s correct but the fact that Laura is already at the projected 4pm point north is interesting. Let’s see if this trend continues

The NHC uses a combined averaged heading for a few hours to address this issue. Wobble watching ensues nonetheless.

Barking Pig is underrated

True. The Pig is pretty legit. It never really gets crazy crowded. The food ain't half bad for bar food and the bartenders are cool. They have golden tee as well.

I can walk to it from my house which is even better.

As good as Levi is at relaying meteorological information for the average person, his best talent may be his coding. If I'm not mistaken, he does the majority of the coding on Tropical Tidbits. He really does do a great job all the way around, and has carved out a nice living for himself, and is just out of his PHd studies. He may really change things in the coming years.
