They keep telling you the center is not in a different spot.
I took that as the model run that someone posted was wrong date to be today's.
I gotcha, sorry about that.

I was wondering this after speculating why they didn't fly over the Yucatan the other day. How big are these sensors to be dropping over land?

Levi definitely thinks a shift west would be more likely than east

Just a question. What happens to the dropsondes after they drop them? Do they hire a team to go collect them? Do the burn up? Are they biodegradable?

Levi is the modern day Nash Roberts

Based on recon, radar, and sat it appears that Laura is going to emerge into the Gulf soon with a rather large lumbering eye. This will be a pretty big system and that could work against it wrapping up very fast.
ETA: Also ref Roll Tides post above for radar.

My best contribution to these threads is that I’m good at getting lots of radar and satellite images.

Isn’t that more northerly than it was before?
Posted on 8/24/20 at 7:56 pm to Duke
If you listen to Levi’s ‘steering’ projections, it boils down to the strength and location of the ridge of High Pressure over Florida. GFS has it more East and weaker than the Euro. Laura is going to go West of that ridge. THAT’s the $Million question that tomorrow is going to answer.
If I’m hearing what Levi is saying w/o saying it, the likelihood of the Euro winning is greater, pushing Laura westward before landfall

That is what I was thinking, I just saw that pic you posted and thought those were sensors being dropped over land.

Def looks to be emerging further north... However, looks can be deceiving.

He's right.
18z Euro is on the eastern edge of the 18z Euro EPS spread and the 18z GFS clusters with the eastern 1/3 of the GEFSv12 spread. That would seem to indicate we are looking at more room for the system to shift west vs. east when considering the 18z model data.
