Wether you agree with it or not after two deaths like this a city leader no matter what political party would do something. Now they would only do it because if something happened they would look bad not because it is the right thing to do.

You could also address the ordinance and allow more floats with its own tractor so krewes don’t have to exploit a loop hole to add more members. It does appear the tandem float has been expanding quite rapidly as other krewes fold and more “super” krewes form.

Really would the parade be any different with a few more tractors pulling floats.

With some of these being majority tandems it would be materially different

Common sense might say that this wasn’t simply a loophole no one cared to close though (especially with tandems specifically allowed in the verbiage) and that more tractors come with issues as well, which may have been a noteworthy part of what the law was addressing

Another year, another stupid incident at Endymion.Atleast this time there wasn't a drunk in a vehicle.

The way I am hearing this, the person slipped by the junction of the floats....he was not trying to get between the two sections.

Even if you slip at the junction it means you put your self between the floats and in front of the tandem. So so stupid.

nowadays people don’t know how not to get run over by a float...
For a long time now, people have been projecting their responsibility to be safe onto the other guy. They act like cows on a country road. Most notable are idiots in parking lots walking outside of designated crosswalks.

When I was a little grasshopper, my daddy always said (yelled), "Get the hell out the way!!!". Even if you do have the right of way, do you totally take your eye off the ball when a 3,000-pound vehicle is in close proximity?? Idiots... all of them...

NOLA used to be my favorite city. As a kid I lived part-time with my dad there. As a young adult I'd frequently go for short weekend trips.

These days as a 30-something, understanding corruption and incompetence, I haven't been in years and don't plan to go.

Good luck with your city. Though to be fair, the whole State is circling the drain.

LaToya cut out overtime for the NOPD during Mardi Gras this year. Here is the real issue that contributed to both deaths. The NOPD is making the floats go faster because they can’t get overtime and they will ticket the float drivers if they stop.

Surprised no one has mentioned how fast the parades are going by this year yet on this board.

The only time I've seen floats going faster is last night after they cancelled and we saw the last units of Endymion rolling fast and not throwing.

How are you going to tell a float driver they can't stop?? Think about what you are saying. They are restricted by the traffic in front of them.

They have been trucking all week long except for the two parades where the axles broke.

Her top competitor was another black woman. I don't understand all the love for LaToya, who rode the fence on so many things when she was on city council.

Please, look at the Democrat candidates for the 2020 presidential election. They're so white the basically glow in the dark.
