"In December last year, we proposed the conclusion of an agreement on security guarantees. Russia called on the West to enter an honest dialogue, in search of reasonable compromise solutions, to take each other’s interests into account. It was all in vain."
"NATO countries did not want to listen to us, meaning that they in fact had entirely different plans, and we saw this. Openly, preparations were under way for another punitive operation in Donbas, the invasion of our historical lands, including Crimea.
Wonder if this actually took place, and if so some reporting/minutes to read? Simply the proposal and discussion of “ending security agreements”, not to comment on his views of NATO actions ignorant to their own on the Ukrainian border.

Which in itself is a method of Russian propaganda seeing how it was a literal race to Berlin from both sides not wanting the other there first to establish control and to hide the atrocities of the red army east of Berlin.

The western powers did not race to Berlin. They agreed in advance to let Russia take Berlin.

For modern Russians, Communism is thankfully gone
Lenin’s communism never took root in Russia. Instead, totaliarianism became the norm. It exists to this day. Putin and the Oligarchs have done to Russia and its military exactly what all the Russian dictators did over the 20th century, plunder.
A weak Russia will be defeated in Ukraine, Putin will be overthrown and the cycle will begin again. It’s the Russian way.

Reports of big advance of Ukrainian troops north-east of Kharkiv City.
Anyone know if this guy is legit?
Also how long until the Russian general staff goes on television to say that this is all part of the plan and Russia is withdrawing its troops from north of Kharkiv to fight in the Donbas?

I've been following a lot of twitter feeds that cover the war, first time I've seen him.

We didnt race to berlin but we did have a mad dash to take as much of "germany" as possible so we could both be in the strongest position during the post war negotiations and ro recruit as many nazi scientists before the russians could kidnap them

There are several people on twitter making similar claims.

Actually at Yalta in early Feb. of 1945 Roosevelt, Stalin and Churchill agreed to the partitioning of Germany and the fate of Eastern Europe. The armies didn’t set the borders, the politicians did.
There was a race to get the best scientists.

Just a few observations about Vlads speech, no mobilization, west is to blame for all invasions because it was planning to attack Crimea. It’s really an honor to die in Ukraine because everyone should die in Ukraine. Your great grandfather probably died in Ukraine and you should carry on the tradition of dying in Ukraine at the behest of a complete fricking tool. I wish this wasn’t the speech but this was it. Just some weak sauce half assed attempt at justifying his war. Old people will love the attachment of the present stupidity with an honorable sacrifice made for all humanity in WWII
That sounds like maybe he's understanding that there is no happy ending for Russia - that he's done and his only conceivable chance to survive personally is to genuinely de-escalate.
I know I'm wish-casting here from your summary, but do you think my interpretation is plausible at all?

Yes I do, question is how many RU soldiers and Ukie Civies have to die? I was told at the outset it from some people who would know it was 100k KWM. That number was reached two days ago. Intercepts about insubordination and outright refusal of orders are too numerous to quantify and they are said to include majors and captains or their equivalent. So I think it’s possible but hard to tell with Vlad. The bit about the west wanting to lay seige to crimea was a little on the nose for deescalation though…

The Russian people have been under absolute rulers since the days of the Roman Empire. It really is remarkable how anachronistic they are today.

Russia is making gains everywhere on the frontlines in Southeast Ukraine. It appears they’ll be encircling Sloviansk within the coming weeks barring a turn of events.

Yes, and they are within artillery distance of Richmond, Va.
They will be on the banks of the Potomac by tomorrow evening.

No clue, but it is supported by Ukrainian news:

Some good news:
the 227th Terodefense Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that the following settlements of the Kharkiv region were liberated:
??Upper Saltov;
??Zamuylovka;
??The flag;
??Frontier.

You can't dispute the advances based on those maps. The institute for the study of war is an American source as well; so, it's not like we're talking about a pro Russia source here. This is about as pro American as a source as you can get. If they're acknowledging Russian advances then you better believe it's the real deal.
