Why would I be proud of either Ukraine or Russia? Neither have any affect on my life. Like none.

That is such short-sighted thinking.

No way I can go through 900 pages, but question since the majority of you support Ukraine. What are your thoughts on the corruption and authoritarian tendencies of the goverment of Ukraine?

I don’t give a damn about them. I just want Ukraine to kick Russia’s arse.

Probably because Russia invaded Ukraine. If in the future Ukraine invades another country we would probably want Ukraine to get their asses kicked.

Not really. We don't have openly state run media, nor has any opposition parties been banned.

I'm not saying there isn't rampant corruption in the US. But it isn't nearly a one to one.

When does the US get it's comeuppance for Iraq then? Are you saying there is never a legitimate reason for one country to invade another?

Because he may have some memory or education that reminds him of what Russia was prior to 1990 and the fact they have never really changed their geopolitical viewpoint. am flabbergasted that any American would side with Russia in a game of checkers much less an invasion of a sovereign nation.

We have a history of siding with enemies of Russia and it not working out well for us. What about Ukraine (and their hawkish attitude towards Russia) makes you think siding with them is in the best interests of an American?

Copied and pasted from a previous post:

Ukraine is rich with natural resources, is one of the major breadbaskets of Europe, and has significant warm water ports. Russia controlling that territory makes Russia stronger. History has shown that a strong Russia is a belligerent Russia. And a belligerent Russia is not beneficial to the interests of the United States.

That and the fact that Russia is evil. I wish Ukraine had the ability to march on Moscow. As it is I think we will have to settle for Russia to return to the pre crimea borders.

I don't think Russia is just going to piss off and if they need to, things certainly will escalte. That doesn't bode well for anyone. Our tax dollars are flusing down the toilet to prop up Ukraine who certainly could have done things differently to avoid conflict with Russia. It's also not a very democratic nation, more akin to Russia than the west, so I don't get the reason so many people want to die on this hill.

so maybe they should just piss off since, as you admit, its in everyones best interest for them to do so

How do people like you function? Russia has had the same guy running the country for 20 plus years in a regime that openly poisons his political opponents. How’s that for corruption and authoritarian tendencies? I honestly don’t know how you can exist day to day with so much cognitive dissonance.

I get that. Resources are always what war is about. I just don't think we need to send 30 billion to Ukraine. 30 billion could fix a lot of issues here in the state. Also Russia has most of the land it wants. I don't see Ukraine taking it back on their own. What country would be willing to step up with actual troops and not just weapons. You need actual humans to fire them.
