Plus I figured with Cents and I being the only two posters on this thread that have actually set foot in Ukraine and perhaps I’m the only one to visit Russia I might have something to add…
You think real world experience means shite to those people?

I can’t help it-I’m a hopeful person. Coming out of church yesterday and reading that made me question why I’d bother. I heard something interesting about that General with the bear death experience yesterday-he was picked by Putin for a very specific reason-apparently after Bucha there was back channel communication with the WH and Russia whereby the rules were clearly laid out by the WH ie if you’re going to commit atrocities we are amping up real military materials, to which Russia apparently said we will bomb your resupply lines. Apparently Syria came up ie Russia directly participated in a sovereign country’s civil war on their “ask”. So the reasoning from certain corners after Bucha happened was why don’t we? We’ve been asked by a sovereign country to intercede. Russia took the hint and then like a petulant child put the butcher of Syria in charge of the whole war.

The next step has to be figuring out how to harm that Black Sea fleet and the blockade.
Problem is that you can piece together some missiles for the surface ships, but without ASW capability the Kilo’s are still there to enforce a blockade.

The [Japanese] believed they would completely cripple us militarily with that attack and there'd be no one to stand against their might. It was possibly the greatest miscalculation in history.

Germany attacking the Soviet Union less than six months previously is in the discussion.
Both decisions resulting from living in an echo chamber of Yes Men. And Putin is now graduating from that school Phi Beta G-- Damned Kappa.
Notice that there were no wives present to critique any of these decisions. In my experience there is nothing like a wife to point out your mistakes and general wrong-headedness.

An OTer did not call you that. A Politard managed to escape the pen and find his way here to call you that.
You can call people whatever names make you feel better. It won’t change the fact that this “politard” isn’t the one coming to the thread with outlandish claims of mystical numbers. That you can’t see the irony in this role reversal is just sad.
But you just keep believing everything you read on the internet.

He’s stated his background, sourcing, and that revealing more specifics would burn his sources developed from his background. While that means you can’t simply verify what he says, what really do you expect with the information he’s sharing? None of that would be officially shared publicly.
We can take it with a grain of salt or cautiously consider it’s possible validity, but it’s contributed to this thread and the regulars, at minimum, find it interesting. Should you blindly trust it? No. Should you blindly trust the “official” reporting? No. Both can be digested and develop your own outlook.

They (Japan) went to war against us in part because of the oil embargo. That embargo was intended to severely limit their (Japanese) ambitious agenda.

Sounds familiar, but in reverse flow and European this time.
Not making the case we’re gonna get the same results, just pointing out the historical similarity. I should also point out the current sanction regime similarly has cut Russia off from necessary component parts and goods/services they desperately need to continue both domestic life and war.

Ever heard of the Crusades?

We had told them what they could and could not do. To accept that, meant losing face. They would no like be be men, in their eyes.
They were too proud to suffer that.

So far I have been in staunch support of how the West has responded.
The US tried for nearly a decade to get the Japanese to come to their senses leading up to the oil embargo but the Japs had empire on their minds.
There are a lot of similarities comparing WWII crises and today. One lesson I pray the Russians review is how an under-resourced, mal-trained military fares against a united coalition of nations with limitless warfighting capability.

You don't think there was real political reasons for the Crusades? Do you just believe everything people tell you or are you just a moron? For some reason, the Byzantines were fine fighting various West Asian powers for upwards of 700 or so years, but only asked for help when those dynamics changed. Maybe you should consider why.

A coalition who has been training together for decades now, and all utilize the same doctrine.
One of the reasons I still have facebook is to keep in touch with the friends I made in various European nations' militaries while working with them over four years while stationed in Germany.
Hell the Chief of Staff of US Army Europe/Africa is a German Brigadier General. My 1SG when I was in IOBC was a British Sergeant Major.
