The similarities to this and what Hitler did are stunning if one only does some research into what the two wrote or said leading to both events.
The good news is we learned our lesson and are supporting an open fight against the territorial agression.

I thought that was all just standard autocrat domestic politics but then so many people didn't take Hitler seriously at the time either. When they invaded and brought mobile crematoria with them, that opened my eyes.

Russia pushing all the way into Moldova will be a disaster tactically
They already can’t support themselves logistically right across the border
Stretching that long will be a shite show, coupled with the generational insurgence they are going to have.
It will make Saudi or Iranian funded insurgents look like child’s play

Agree that doesn't seem feasible. I think their long-term plan is support Russia-friendly politicians like Marine Le Pen in the west and make moves to expand when we look weak and disunited again.

Comparing bad guys to Hitler as we know is overdone, but there are absolute similarities here, and not just the ones you mentioned (which were 100% accurate). One of my biggest takeaways from the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich was how Hitler's philosophy and worldview was so steeped in occultism and paganism. Shirer explained how Naziism was philosophically a deliberate repudiation of Western values such as the Enlightment and even organized religion (although he certainly used the Catholic church for his ends) and traced that back to Germany's relative backwardism and lack of an entrenched Enlightenment tradition compared to say, England and France. That reached its culmination in Hitler's gotterdammerung, eschatological worldview, in which Hitler would rather lose and see the world burn than reach any sort of diplomatic compromise.
I had an interesting conversation with a German woman recently who went into detail about this and how it applies to Russia. While Germany at least had Kant, Russia has virtually no worthwhile philosophical tradition, or at least any that has penetrated the populace. Historically, it's been a wasteland of mysticism and feudalism and the awful Orthodix church (not to mention Communism), all of which have retarded the country's development. Putin, like Hitler, is the embodiment of this cesspool of influences. His philosophical tenets come from charlatans like Alexander Dugin. I doubt he's as insane as Hitler but the parallels between the two as well as between the evolution of Germany and Russia are there.

As to Putin's health, I'll need to see a lot more than that. Remember how Hillary's been dying for 6 years. ?
I didn't think there was much to that speech where he supposedly had the funny gait. I saw little if anything noteworthy. But this pic sure looks odd and I'm surprised they released it. You can live a long time with Parkinson's;. Years, even decades. But with the kind of stress he's under it wouldn't be surprising if any chronic condition he has would worsen.

Perhaps the most ironic part is Hitler believed that if he didn't achieve certain conditions for the German empire that Jewish communists from the east could destabilize Germany and take it over (see Hitler's views on Autarky). Putin is selling that the west will use "Nazis" in Ukraine to invade and destabilize Russia. So Hitler (in his mind) invaded the Soviet Union in part to eradicate the threat from Jewish communists. Putin claims that he invaded Ukraine to eradicate the threat of "Nazis". Hitler also believed that as a great empire Germany had a right to territorial expansion. Putin believes that as a great empire that Russia has a right to territorial expansion to establish a " Sphere of Influence" area.

It's possible. I think his face has looked puffy, possibly cushingoid, like he's been getting steroid treatment. This story from a few weeks ago on how much time this thyroid cancer specialist has been flown out to Putin's Black Sea dacha some 35 times (and >280 visits with Putin total) is interesting too. Many thyroid cancers are quite treatable, but steroids have plenty of psychiatric complications.

Prior to this Russian Civil War
Out of curiosity do you consider the War of 1812 to be a British Civil War?
It was a war between a long established land (England) vs. a young country who just a few decades prior was the property of England.
This young country (the USA) consisted of ethnically British people who spoke the English language, many of whom still supported the crown at that point in time.
The argument that Russia makes that “without Russia, there is no Ukraine” is quite literally true if you go back to 1812 and restate it as “Without England, there is no USA”

Pretty interesting look at Putins hand and leg tremors or whatever it is that’s affecting him.
Now that looks like Parkinson’s. Our previous CEO unfortunately has it. Not an expert by any means and running a country and a large organization in SC are two entirely different things, but he was still cabals of managing the company. Earlier on it was very similar to that hand motion and his response was almost identical to tuck into his jacket. As it progressed that of course was no longer effective.

Russia going in hard on Africa while the world’s focus is on Ukraine
Wonder what China is doing then. They’ve been working Africa for quite a while now and have invested billions.

In regards to Africa China is achieving their goals by buying ($$$$$) governments/politicians,etc. Russia is trying to achieve its goals through the Wagner group and force. China has something that the Soviets never had and that is the money and economy to compete with the west and the sad part is we enabled it and continue to do so. We need to bring our supply chain home.

Agree 100%, was just curious if actions had changed any with China if Russia was moving.
Interesting to consider within the timeline of events. Supposedly Xi got Putin to wait until after the Olympics in China which contributed to the current poor performance. Russia is trying to make a wedge in Africa which China covets and has invested significant resources in.

One of the differences between 1812 and Ukraine-Russia is that the US invaded Canada most likely because Madison wanted to annex Canada. Some historians dispute this, but it makes the most sense. It was a war of aggression from the little brother US.
A question from my angle: Would a Chinaman in 1812 view the War of 1812 as a British Civil War? An even better question: Would he even care being on the other side of the planet?
