Any big changes during the first 12 hours of the much anticipated Great Donbas offensive?

Good question
Well one thing is for certain. Russia has not learned to check the weather before starting an offensive. I just checked it and its raining all across the front today and supposed to be cloudy and in the 40s - 60s for the next 10 days. The ground is not going to dry up enough for tanks to move effectively off road.

Twitter - Major break from Kremlin policy at Siberian University -
FWIW, Novosibirsk State University is actually one of the few world-class universities in Russia. Thus, it doesn't surprise me that the faculty - many of whom travel much more extensively than the average Russian - would be against the war.
But it does surprise me that they feel emboldened to make a public statement. In normal times, a public statement like this would result in immediate death to a Russian academic career.
Given the heavy top-down administrative structure in Russian universities, this statement could be a sign that powerful people once loyal to Putin are greenlighting dissent.

I thought I read in the comments from the link that this wasn’t an official University URL so some are doubting the validity

Don’t forget about the Ukrainian farmers.

That also doesn't surprise me. There's no way such a statement could be made from the official university URL. Similar to China, university websites are constantly monitored by the government.

You can
1) be very sad for the Ukrainian people and any prospect of western freedom and liberalism coming to their nation any time soon
2) oppose US involvement in the conflict
I am listening to the Dems and Biden. I am praying that the Ukrainian Azov Battalion, Right Sector, and White Hammer divisions beat back the Russians. Ukraine has had 8 years of civil war. If they want to be Nazis then that is no business of the Russians. Our racist Dems and Liberal leaders are wanting you to support Ukrainian Facism....so we def should.

Do we think we are getting to the point where Russia will lose Crimea and/or Donetsk? Is Ukraine showing signs of being emboldened towards that end?

There is no doubt that Ukraine is motivated to keep its entire country intact. However, Russia still has the ability to overwhelm the Ukrainian military along a focused front. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a stalemate near the present lines.

I am looking to this board the get an idea as to whether Ukraine can push back against this onslaught. I read action is along a front for hundreds of miles. Soon the logistics lines will be stretched and the Ukrainians can fight back if they are able to. I have no idea right now.

Ukraine has had some success with counterattack. They drove the Russian forces completely away from the eastern suburbs of Kyiv and had encircled most of the Russian forces Northwest of Kyiv before Russia retreated back to Belarus. However those success were limited in scope geographically. The Ukrainians are still in the process of mobilizing and training their reserves. It is still going to be awhile before they are ready launch a counter offensive that throws Russia back. However, they might get lucky as they continue their push on Kherson and cause the Russian conscripts to flee back to Crimea like the Russian conscripts around Kyiv fled back to Belarus.

push back against this onslaught
Defense in depth, skirmish fall back to strongpoints, let the Russians get strung out and uneven then start hitting back. Thats worked pretty well so far.

Given the country overwhelmingly elected a Jewish president, the odds that the Nazi influence of Azoz could seriously impact geopolitics is remarkably small.
And…as discussed 55 times in this thread, the current Eastern European definitions of “Nazi” vary significantly from what we think of that term in the West.
