Either way, the defenders of Mariupol did a hell of a job delaying the Russians. It took them 7 weeks to accomplish something that they planned on doing in less than 7 days.

Well in their defense. Ukraine has captured enough Russian equipment that they could use rockets with serial numbers originally distributed to Russia.

Kyiv tells German President that his visit is "not wanted".
Several PM's and/or Presidents from European countries are traveling to meet Zelensky in Kyiv. Kyiv sent word that the German President was "not wanted". He boarded his plane in Poland and returned to Berlin.

While that would have been a better deflection of blame, the Russians instead have insisted on that
1) they don’t use that type of rocket (despite claiming to use that type of rocket weeks ago)
2) Ukraine used similar serial numbered units in other attacks (have no knowledge of how true or untrue this is other than Russian trolls pump out this info)
