Like I said, I have followed this, but not in great detail.
So you don't think Putin thought that if he put enough pressure on Ukraine they would just lay down instead of fighting them and it ending with the same result that it would end in if they just surrender to him?

I am optimistic that things have escalated about as far as they will go.
If you're going to send all your ground forces into a country you would at least sprinkle some bomb it nonstop for at least a few days and nights first so that people are tired AF. Right?
Sure, the international community would be provoked but if you're going to do a full-scale invasion, it's all kind of moot anyway.
