don’t think Russia has the personnel or materiel available to do that. As you well know, offensive warfare just churns through resources. They’ll retrench in the East and probably reinforce Crimea.
I was thinking months down the line. Either way you would assume Russia at least keeps a sizable force north of Kyiv to at least tie down Ukrainian forces there

Tried to quote the important pieces, obviously more in full article. Seems at least mostly consistent with a lot of what we’ve seen on Twitter from accounts frequently shared in here.
I saw a BBC report today on YouTube. It showed in part a video of a Ukrainian father in Bucha as get out of his car with his hands up to show he was a non-combatant. Though they chose to not show his death, he was immediately shot in the street and his wife was also killed. A young son and another passenger apparently survived. And then the video forwarded to the present as Ukrainian troops were patrolling in Bucha. His car was still in the middle of the road unmoved along with his body on the ground where it fell with his wife in the back seat. Both had been burned to a crisp ostensibly to cover up evidence of the atrocity.

Images of the wreckage of an aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) have started to circulate online in the afternoon (European time) on Apr. 3, 2022. The jet went down near Izium, in eastern Ukraine, some 120 kilometers to the southeast of Kharkiv.
Single seater, without canards, equipped with the L-265M10P/R ECM wingtip pods and featuring heat shields on the stabilizers: the aircraft was quickly identified as an Su-35S Flanker-E multirole 4++ generation supermaneuverable jet. The first to be lost since the beginning of the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
The pilot of the Flanker derivative survived the ejection and was captured by the Ukrainian forces:
According to the Ukrainian sources, the Su-35S was shot down by the Ukrainian air defenses, although this can’t be verified at the moment. A video showing the aircraft, in flames, coming down, has emerged.

It is a pure doctrine issue. And it's showing the overwhelming superiority of NATO doctrine over Russian. One Javelin at a time.
Cultural rather doctrinal.
Much of this is fundamental to the Russian way of doing things.

It appears Ukraine isn't going to let the Russian army just unass the area.

Buryn is the hub for their retreat. Has a railroad out of dodge. We don't know the extend of the operations UA executing right now but they have demonstrated a high level of operational excellence. Maybe they'll trap a big hunk of them?

Leave Captain Planet out of this.
Funny you use that meme considering Linka(the blond) was Russian.

Robert Zubrin @robert_zubrin The Russian frigate Admiral Essen was severely damaged today by a Ukrainian Neptune cruise missile. The frigate was hit while it was attempting to bombard the city of Odessa.
As of last year they had 24 of these things and they were clearly hoarding them for the big seaborne invasion. The fact that they used one indicates the promised British antiship missiles are arriving.

Who would that even be? I was under the impression that a big part of Russia's stumble out of the gate was the sheer glut of Yes-men running his government.

That has to be a huge additional concern for Russia. U's successfully using their Neptunes is a major happening.
