In an interview published on Friday evening, Carlson asked Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, one of Trump’s main mediators between Kiev and Moscow, if he thinks Ukraine will hold an election.
“Yes. They’ve agreed to it. There will be elections in Ukraine,” the envoy replied. He added that Zelensky is “in a very difficult position,” given that Russia has a much larger population and nuclear weapons.
“He’s got to know that he’s going to get ground down. Now is the best time for him to get a deal done. President Trump can deliver him the best possible deal,” Witkoff said. He stressed that any aid will become “unsustainable” unless there is a clear plan on how to resolve the conflict. “We just can’t forever give money.”

Witkoff, the main negotiator of the ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, decided to have a chat with pro-Russia shill Tucker Carlson. This is embarrassing on so many levels - let's break them down:
- Witkoff can't even remember the names of the Ukrainian oblasts (Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Crimea) that Putin wants.
- He then uses the Russian name (Lugansk) for one of them.
- He cites a sham vote organized by the FSB as "evidence" that people in these regions want to join Russia.
- Witkoff also fails to mention that Russia doesn't even have full de facto control of these regions.
It's deeply concerning that someone who is supposed to be a neutral negotiator between two warring countries is siding with the aggressor and spreading their propaganda.

Not much that Witkoff said there is incorrect.
The reason those Oblasts descended into Civil War is their favorite-son President was overthrown in a coup. The Russian speakers there have been badly treated for years. They finally got a sympathetic President elected, and Ukrainian-speakers ripped him from office extra-Constitutionally.
Now that doesn't mean might-makes-right. It does not justify war or the Russian invasion. But Witkoff is simply laying out the facts on the ground as they currently exist.

quote:Witkoff shows the world again that the sole requirement for working for Trump is constant sycophantic praise of Donnie. Not intelligence, not experience, just the ability to stroke Donnie's ego.

Putin is playing Witkoff like a yo-yo. How he keeps a straight face is a miracle.
Someone in the DoJ / FBI needs to save this country by leaking the Epstein tapes and thus negating Putin's kompromat on Trump.
