On 13 February 2025, the Russian Defence Ministry claimed that Russian forces had taken control of Vodyane Druhe, a village situated on the H-32 Highway between Kostiantynivka and Myrnohrad, a key logistics route east of the city of Pokrovsk. Fighting has continued in this area with Ukrainian forces likely repelling most of the Russian attacks.

To the west of Pokrovsk, Ukrainian forces are counterattacking near Kotlyne on the T-04-06 highway, and at Pischane, with both villages fiercely contested. Ukrainian forces are likely attempting to hinder Russian progress in securing the main supply route towards Udachne, 12km southwest of Pokrovsk.

The attempted encirclement of Pokrovsk alongside efforts to cut off Ukrainian logistics lines along the front line remains a priority for Russian offensive activity. This focus is reflected in high casualty rates in the area. On 11 February 2025, Ukraine's Khortytsia Group of Forces spokesperson stated that Russian casualties on the Pokrovsk axis in January 2025 were 7,000 killed and 15,000 wounded or missing.

Ukraine liberates Pishchane in Donetsk Oblast as counterattacks gain momentum

Ukrainian forces have successfully launched a series of counterattacks in the Pokrovsk sector, liberating the village of Pishchane in Donetsk Oblast from Russian occupation. Hortytsia Operational-Strategic Group spokesperson Viktor Tregubov announced the news on Feb. 16 during a broadcast on Kyiv 24.

"We can now officially confirm the liberation of Pishchane, which is located about five kilometers south of Pokrovsk," Tregubov said. Russian forces have also been pushed back from several nearby settlements."

According to Tregubov, the frontline situation is changing rapidly.

"It appears that a turning point has been reached—at least in the Pokrovsk sector. This can now be cautiously stated, even with reference to [President Volodymyr Zelenskyy]," he added.

Tregubov noted that Russian forces had serious offensive intentions in the area but suffered heavy losses.

"This month, their advances have been largely stalled, and in some areas, they were even forced to retreat," he said.

He credited the success primarily to the effective use of drones and coordinated efforts between various Ukrainian military units.

Shmyhal: Enemy drones damage TPP in Mykolaiv, 46,000 subscribers left without heat supply

Russia's attack on critical infrastructure in Mykolaiv has left 46,000 subscribers without heat supply.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

“Last night Russian terrorists targeted the critical infrastructure of Mykolaiv. Enemy UAVs damaged the city's thermal power plant. This was done deliberately to leave people without heat in sub-zero temperatures and create a humanitarian catastrophe. Currently, 46,000 subscribers remain without heat supply,” said Shmyhal.
