The NORKs sending over 10k troops to fight in the Russia Ukraine war is the real slippery slope. Will Iran join in? China has a lot of excess young males, but they have a lot to lose economically if they get involved.

Russia Announces Strategic Partnership With Iran
Russia and Iran are close to signing an updated agreement on bilateral strategic partnership.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the agreement will confirm the parties’ desire for closer cooperation in the defense sector.
The agreement will be a serious factor in strengthening Russian-Iranian relations: the Russian official stressed that the agreement emphasizes strengthening ties between Russia and Iran at the global level.
The bilateral military cooperation between Moscow and Tehran is a matter of deep concern in the West, and in Israel.
The agreement comes as Iran aids Russia in its war against Ukraine, supports terrorist groups, and threatens Israel with a potential third missile strike.

ISW Update Nov 1
quote:
Key Takeaways:
Patriarch Kirill, head of the Kremlin-controlled Russian Orthodox Church Moscow Patriarchate (ROC MP), highlighted ongoing social and ideological divides within Russian society while reiterating boilerplate justifications for the war in Ukraine during a speech on October 31.
Kirill also highlighted the growing trend of brutality and cruelty in the Russian military and attempted to excuse this trend as the emergence of a “neo-pagan” cult.
Russian authorities also continue to identify conflict between ethnic Russians and minority groups as a critical issue.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with his North Korean counterpart Choe Son-hui in Moscow on November 1, securing strong affirmations of North Korea's support for Russia amid updated Western reports on the number of North Korean troops deployed to Russia.
North Korean troops are unlikely to present Russia with a long-term solution to its manpower concerns, despite Choe's comments about Pyongyang's indefinite commitment to Russia's war effort.
The US Department of Defense (DoD) announced a new tranche of military assistance valued at $425 million to Ukraine on November 1.
Russian federal censor Roskomnadzor failed to enforce its plan to deanonymize Russian social media accounts by its stated November 1 deadline.
Ukrainian forces recently advanced north of Sudzha.
Both Ukrainian and Russian forces recently advanced within central Vovchansk. Russian forces recently advanced northeast of Kupyansk and northwest of Kreminna.
The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) introduced a new system on November 1 allowing Russian veterans and their families to confirm their veteran statuses digitally.

North Korea Says Will Stand by Russia Until 'Victory' in Ukraine
North Korea's FM Choe Son Hui was in Moscow as the West believes up to 10,000 North Korean troops are training in Russia and on the brink of entering the more than two-year conflict on Russia's side.
by AFP | November 1, 2024, 1:47 pm
North Korea will stand by Russia until its victory in Ukraine, Pyongyang's foreign minister said in Moscow Friday, as the US has warned thousands of North Korean troops could be sent to combat in the Ukraine conflict in the coming days.
"We will always stand firmly by our Russian comrades until victory day," Choe declared in Moscow after talks with her Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
She said North Korea had no doubt in the "wise leadership" of President Vladimir Putin, who signed a mutual assistance pact with Pyongyang this summer and massively warmed ties with the reclusive state.
Choe called Moscow's more than two year offensive in Ukraine a "sacred struggle."
She also vowed that North Korea will continue to develop its nuclear arsenal, with Pyongyang widely suspected of wanting nuclear technology from Russia in exchange for military support.

A retired A-10 Squadron commander said that 200 retired USAF pilots would be EASY to recruit. It's also about matching their skills with an opponent. That's just for A-10's.
FTR, the A-10 was designed to be a killer of Russian tanks

The A-10 would not survive on a modern battlefield.

The US centric view (which would also be possibly the most optimistic for Ukraine) is that Russia is blowing its load now because it thinks Trump will win, and it thinks Trump will more or less force them into peace talks by offering Ukraine weapons and support that the Biden administration refused to offer if they don't come to the table. I think the other side of that coin is that Trump could also squeeze Zelensky into accepting terms the Biden admin wouldn't advise/allow him to accept. If this is true, Russia's gains are unsustainable and only meant to better their bargaining position.
So what if Trump pulls all support but Ukraine and Western Europe just keep on fighting? It's not like US military aid is arriving in a timely manner, anyway, and they've been forced to go without for long periods of time. So what if they settle on a "kill as many Russians in meat waves as we can then cede that land before we lose our troops" thing of letting this drag on, letting Russia overextend itself until the collapse?
What could stop that? Trump dropping the sanctions... if you don't think that's a possibility, it could drag on until Russia is spent and its economy implodes.
