Large fires erupt at oil depot in occupied Crimea's Feodosia at site of previous Ukrainian strike

by Dmytro Basmat October 10, 2024 11:03 PM (Updated:
October 10, 2024 11:51 PM)

Two large fire erupted at an oil depot terminal in Russian-occupied Feodosia late at night on Oct. 10 at the site of a previous Ukrainian drone strike, where another blaze has been burning for four days, local media reported.

According to the telegram channel Crimean Wind, an "intense" fire broke out around 9 p.m. local time. The fire was large enough to be visible from within all neighborhoods of the city.

Local residents also reported that a second fire erupted at 11:10 p.m., marking the second large explosion recorded.

Videos of the fires circulating on social media show a large explosion engulf the night sky with flames billowing a few dozen meters into the sky.

The fires occurred at the site of another ongoing oil depot fire at the Marine Oil Terminal in Feodosia which was caused by a Ukrainian missile strike on Oct. 7.

See Russian involvement in Ukraine politics.
Why?

Serious question.
NATO, Russia's existential enemy, was playing "a game of marriage" with Ukraine. You think if Canada or Mexico were contemplating allying with Russia and/or China we'd not interfere?

That’s not a serious question. There are no similarities with how Russia has already tried to install their own puppet dictators in Ukraine against the people’s wishes.

But No, I don’t think the US would do the following:

Lie about not planning to invade at the UN during obvious troop buildup
Pretend it’s about Nazis in the govt
Kidnap children
Murder civilians on bicycles
Hold fake elections to annex territory
Indiscriminately shell residential apartment blocks
Attempt to control nuclear facilities
Threaten nuclear war
Align with and use weapons provided by North Korea, Iran, and China
Unload prisons for cannon fodder
Lose navel fleet

Based upon this worm eaten brain logic, Russia will be compelled to invade Latvia, Estonia and Finland. Oh well, the party’s over, I guess.

All those nations plus a half dozen or so nations have been in wars with Russia or conquered by Russia; yet some will tell you Russia naturally fears NATO an alliance formed for economic and defensive reasons.

I don’t believe it. It’s an excuse.

Soft skulled retard thinking in motion there.

NATO has in its entire history, never fired a shot in anger at the Russian menace.

And we might get pissed, and we might try to interfere, but it doesn't mean we'd be right or justified in doing so-- Russia has no right of first refusal for what another sovereign country does, or who they choose to freely associate with by their own choice.

If we'd had people like this Russian apologist in the 50s, the whole world would have gone Red.

Actually, its more like Russia was going to have to clean up corruption to become a full member of NATO instead of a partner with NATO so Putin cut ties.

ISW Update. Oct 10th

quote:

Key Takeaways:

Ukrainian forces reportedly struck a Shahed drone storage facility in Krasnodar Krai and an ammunition warehouse in the Republic of Adygea on October 9 and 10.

Russian forces have reportedly struck three civilian vessels docked in Ukrainian ports since October 5, likely as part of intensified Russian military, political, and economic pressure to undermine confidence in Ukraine's grain corridor, Western support for Ukraine, and push Ukraine into premature negotiations.

An unspecified senior US defense official stated on October 9 that Russian forces have suffered over 600,000 casualties since the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022 — a stark increase from a prior US intelligence assessment that Russian forces suffered about 315,000 casualties in Ukraine as of December 2023.

An Iranian outlet affiliated with former Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Commander Major General Mohsen Rezaei claimed on October 8 that Russia provided Iran with an S-400 air defense system and a squadron of Su-35 fighter jets but provided no evidence for this claim.

Ukrainian forces recently advanced near Toretsk. Russian forces recently advanced in Kursk Oblast and near Chasiv Yar, southeast of Pokrovsk, and southwest of Donetsk City.

The Russian military appears to be increasingly recruiting older Russian volunteers in order to sustain ongoing crypto-mobilization efforts.

This is kind of random, but I came across one of your comments about Plaquemines Parish officials being corrupt a few years back. I'm about to interact with them for a certain project. Can you tell me what situations made you think they're corrupt? This is not a joke. I really will have to interact with them for a project.

Respectfully, I think you sound like the afternoon host on WWL Radio. It’s always something, but it was never proven in the 4 years that former President Trump was in office that he was sucking
a Russian Dick. If anything, count like Hilliary Clinton
we’re trying to make up lies before he even took office. Before Covid magically appeared everything was going just fine, then all of a sudden, a VIRUS STRAIGHT OUT OF CHINA, magically appeared, and set the world on fire. Ukraine/Russia VS Israel/Everybody that really wants them gone are two different things. You smell like you love sucking the Dick of South Carolina.

I have only been told by those who have dealt with them directly. Wife's uncle is a former general legal counsel for Westlake Group (petrochemicals, vinyls, etc..) Per him, Ascension Parish was as bad. He described it as a handout here and a handout there, hire this local company, hire that one, and things will go smoother. Calcasieu Parish wasn't bad at all.

Good point.
Aside from the Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile crisis, attempts to assassinate Castro, trade embargos, travel restrictions, etc., we've left Cuba alone.

INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE
11 October 2024

The Avdiivka-Pokrovsk sector in eastern Ukraine likely remains the Russian main effort and has seen a high level of Russian operations over the past week. It is highly likely that Russia is continuing to set conditions for an attack on Pokrovsk. Russian forces have partially encircled the outlying town of Selydove and will highly likely attempt to seize the town in the coming weeks.

In the same sector, Russia has made gains into the centre of the town of Toretsk. However, progress has been slow and Russian positions in the town are vulnerable to Ukrainian counter-attacks.

Following the seizure of Vuhledar at the beginning of October 2024, Russian forces have only made minor advances beyond the town, which lies on the intersection between the two key fronts of Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk.

In Zaporizhzhia, there are some indications of an attempted re-invigoration of Russian offensive operations in the eastern part of the sector with Russian forces reportedly taking the village of Kamianske, on the main Zaporizhzhia-Melitopol road. This area has remained relatively static for over a year, but it remains to be seen whether Russian forces will be able to sustain further offensive operations in this area.

But we never invaded. We never took part of Cuba by force. We never joined in a Cuban civil war against their govt. We never started a war where tens of thousands were killed.

In other words it ain’t close.

Cuba and Ukraine aren't comparable at all really. Ukraine has (had?) quite a strong military. The reason Cuba wanted missiles is that they do not have a strong military.

We would certainly try to, but I'm not sure we would actually invade. But Mexico and Canada have never been part of the United States either.

The thing people in this thread refuse to admit is that it was a legitimate provocation, but that does not make this a legitimate invasion.

We have effectively choked Cuba out of any chance it had of becoming a prosperous country though. Even just making American tourism more open/accessible would be a game changer for the Cuban economy. If we had open relations there would also be trade, and likely American investment in the country (though it would have to be in cooperation with their government).

I think we are stuck in the 1960's-70's in regards to Cuban relations. Its time. Selfishly I also just want to be able to take the boat down there more easily
