Well, this is a site that runs on what someone tweets on X and what someone says in a podcast or a youtube vid or what something someone at work told them about something...

Two gas megaprojects to be suspended in Russia due to sanctions – Russian media

Oleksii Artemchuk — Monday, 23 September 2024, 12:48

Western sanctions against Russian gas company Novatek have worked: the company has frozen its plans to build new gas liquefaction plants.

Source: Russian media outlet Kommersant

Details: This refers to Murmansk LNG, which was supposed to become Russia's largest gas liquefaction plant (three liquefaction lines of 6.8 million tonnes each), and Obskoye LNG in the Arctic port of Sabetta (two liquefaction lines of 3 million tonnes each).

Both projects have been suspended, and no active work is underway on either of them. There is no information on when Novatek will return to the development of these projects, as the company has been focusing on completing Arctic LNG-2 and establishing shipments from this plant.

Due to the sanctions, the construction of the Obskoye Gas Chemical Complex may become a priority for Novatek. Novatek wants to produce ammonia and urea there and then export these products across the Arctic Ocean to Asia-Pacific countries. Urea exports require ice-class bulk carriers, but they are easier to build than LNG carriers.

The Murmansk and Obskoye LNG plants were to be Novatek's next projects after Arctic LNG-2. The Obskoye plant was planned to be built in conjunction with the Obskoye Gas Chemical Complex.

Thanks for video, but I didn't get anything out of it except some trucks driving around.

Ukraine is claiming that it has launched another successful invasion of the Kursk oblast. The video is supposed to be footage of Ukraine clearing minefields and advancing. It is kind os generic footage so it is not real helpful but I am not the one who wrote the tweet. The breakthrough supposedly occurred around north of the Ukrainian salient in the Kursk oblast. Ukraine is claiming to have flanked the Russians north of the salient and if they can make it to the Seym River just 8 km away they can encircle up 1/4th of the troops Russia is using to fight in Kursk. If Ukraine's claims are true (big if btw) then it will be another embarrassment for Vlad the Incompetent.

SMH, this just shows that if Ukraine’s 2023 offensive had been directed towards the north instead of the south, Zelensky would be hosting peace talks in the Ukrainian city of St. Petersburg.

There were people in Ukraine suggesting that at the time but they were not listened to. They called it Operation arse to Donbas.

That's old news. The modules built in China were returned a long time ago, after already being onsite.

We've just made them (much) stronger and taught them how to defeat our major weapon systems.

Russia had lost thousands of men and it’s not because they figured out how to defeat our major weapon systems.

This is the most ludicrous statement that you have made yet.

Ukraine never had the resources to win. It became an industrial contest almost immediately, and there was no comparison between what Ukraine could muster, even with Western help, and Russia.

Invading Russia has just burned through some of their best units, and weakened the line in Donetsk, accelerating the rupture there. Kursk was an understandable gamble, what else could they do, the war is grinding one way, but it was not a good idea. Doing this earlier in the war would have produced the same result.

The guy that works for me is a marine combat vet. He told me they did this also. Called it playing cowboys and Indians. No money for ammo was the reason given

The Kursk op, strikes deeper into Russia instead of attacking on the actual front (and the west allowing those strikes when they previously weren't) coupled with the frontline reports we are seeing are obvious signs that conditions are deteriorating for Ukraine. A wounded animal is the most dangerous.
