Ukraine never had the resources to win. It became an industrial contest almost immediately, and there was no comparison between what Ukraine could muster, even with Western help, and Russia.

Invading Russia has just burned through some of their best units, and weakened the line in Donetsk, accelerating the rupture there. Kursk was an understandable gamble, what else could they do, the war is grinding one way, but it was not a good idea. Doing this earlier in the war would have produced the same result.

Invading Kursk was brilliant and highly successful. The big lesson in this war is that it is painful to advance against entrenched forces. So the Kursk invasion was a chance to establish a new set of lines that Russia would have to root out at a huge loss of men and materials, while Ukraine suffers about 1/4 as much. And it has worked well.

Do you actually read reports from front? We are watching trends, not necessarily predicting imminent collapse. 3 months is not that much time when there isn't a large scale offensive going on for either side.

Yes.

What world do you live in? No large scale operation going on?

According to wikipedia, Ukraine's offensive into Kursk involves 15,000-30,000 Ukrainian troops and 30,000-60,000 Russian troops at this point. Again according to wikipedia, Russia's Pokrovsk offensive involves approximately 40,000 Russian troops against 12,000 Ukrainian defenders. I think that most people would say that both of those offensives qualify as large scale offensives.

The Ukrainians outnumber the Russians in Kursk 3:2, but it hasn’t mattered much because the Russians have such an enormous advantage in firepower.

All reports indicated many of the Russian defenders in Kursk were basically policemen.
It’s hard to believe policemen have more firepower than veteran infantry units.

In Kursk Russia was caught by surprise. They were out manned and outgunned. Even Russian counterattacks with reinforcements were stymied.

Ukraine is in a precarious position in the Donbas. That’s true. Russia does have the numbers and the guns there.

Not at all the case. Mainly conscripts and Chechens for sure. There were dragon's teeth, and dug in positions. The big difference was not having massive minesfields in depth with artillery dialed in as in the South after being telegraphed for months that was were attack was going to occur

Well, this is a site that runs on what someone tweets on X and what someone says in a podcast or a youtube vid or what something someone at work told them about something...
Granted, I'm less familiar with OT threads than you are. But in my experience, questionable TD posts across the board, are generally challenged.

Individual boards' bias certainly exists. No question ...and it, depending on the board, directionally drives responses in ways some posters may find oppositional. Some posters would regard "oppositional" as objectionable. Regardless, posts on the boards do tend to be more fact-based than you seem to be crediting. Your posts, and select others here, fall into that category, IMO.

Hey man, they needed to clear out 5,000 old T-72s and another 10,000 BMPs to make room for their fleet of T-14s.

Last I saw Putin announced that they would have 2400 of them in the field by this year. But I gues they're saving them for Poland or something

You really need to STFU and listen as a first instinct.
Then STFU and listen as a second instinct.
Then STFU and listen as a third instinct.

Then finally, after FORCING yourself to INTELLECTUALLY consider ALL ENDS of the argument you are contemplating, go ahead with engagement.

or

Alternately ignore that advise and continue to underperform your intellectual capability. Do what you will.

You mad. You should learn to make more coherent arguments. And stop defending every random fascist, of which Lima is definitely one.

Responding to Putin's cheerleader was actually coherent.

Maybe you need to stop with the ignorant AF arguments.

‘We Bury Them Right There’ – Russian on Moscow’s Tactic to Avoid Paying for Fallen Soldiers

Russian soldiers who died on the front are often buried to be listed as missing. allowing the Kremlin to avoid paying compensation to their families.

by Kateryna Zakharchenko | September 23, 2024, 2:49 pm

In a newly intercepted call by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), a resident of Krasnaya Yaruga, a village in Russia’s Belgorod region, reveals that fallen Russian soldiers are simply buried on the battlefield to be categorized as missing.

“They kill them, the fighting goes on, it’s hot, they start to smell, so we bury them right there, and then they’re missing. And if they’re missing, the family gets no payment. Got it?” the man explains to his interlocutor, sharing what he heard from those who returned to the village.

The man also mentions the importance of identification tags to recognize and identify the fallen soldiers.

“In 1942, they canceled the medallions [Soviet era soldier’s “dog tags”] for a reason. Medallions were used to identify them, but it would’ve meant millions to pay out,” he says, adding that “boars, wolves, crows, dogs, and ferrets will eat them up. They’re already feasting on the dead.”

Last year, Kyiv Post interviewed Maria [surname withheld], who works for Ukrainian intelligence as a professional eavesdropper. She talked about some of the shocking things she heard.

Russia regularly dismisses the content of intercepted calls published by Ukraine, saying they are fake, a claim Maria denied.

She said: “Yes, they all are real even though they might seem insane. Sometimes I can’t believe the words I’m hearing myself, but we have what we have.”

Mad?? No. Not at all. Sorry. Not even close. I'm posting amidst multitasks here.

The posts addressed have nothing to do with me.
You are projecting.
I'm sorry facts and truth make you mad.

Again, advise under these circumstances is to pause, STFU, and consider tenets of the arguments posed.

There was an old joke about inept receivers ... 10sec feet, 15sec hands. You have a 10sec mouth, and a >>10sec brain ... at least in evidence.
