Welcome back in the 19th century ??
"Russia and China have begun hiring couriers to pay for goods in gold
Russia has begun using gold to pay for goods from China due to problems with bank transfers, Reuters reports. After the US Treasury threatened secondary sanctions for financial transactions with Moscow in June and credit institutions tightened their checks on transactions, one of the working solutions was a scheme with gold: the metal was bought, transported to Hong Kong, where it was sold, and the cash was deposited in a local bank account, the agency's sources report."

russia does not provide a corridor for the evacuation of civilians in the kursk region, – the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
At the same time, according to Vadym Mysnyk, the spokesman of the "Siversk" OTUV, the russian army continues to bombard cities and villages with anti-aircraft missiles and drones – hitting places where there are no soldiers.
"They (local residents, - ed.) say that they want peace, that is out of politics, that everything stops or that they are given a corridor – the opportunity to leave the war zone, which russia does not give", –the spokesman said.

Watch as Russia conducts a double tap strike on a subway in Kharkiv using Iskander missiles. One missile is launched and then several minutes later a second one is launched to strike any first responders who have arrived. A van can be seen pulling up to the scene as the strike occurs. A freeze frame from the video shows that this is clearly an Iskander missile. Kharkiv subways served as civilian bomb shelters for months early in the war, but are used less so now. This subway station is connected to a shopping mall.

Well the point now is the continuation of aid we've already got them to this point. Part of the "knowing better in 2024" is that we live in a timeline where they have been given aid.
You chided me for using historical events to make a point. You like to ignore the past as if each new event is unique.
I remember learning about the Nazis. At first they took Austria without opposition. Then the west gave them Czecheoslovokia even though they had dug in and were ready to fight. Finally when the Nazis took Poland France and England acted.
Putin attacked Georgia and the west watched. Then he took Crimea and entered Donbas. There was little done although Obama sent blankets. Feb of 22 and Putin blows in to take Ukraine. Finally the West replied in a significant way.
Do you see the pattern?

INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE
01 September 2024
Russian Ground Forces (RGF) have accelerated their advance towards the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk over the last seven days. RGF are highly likely within ten kilometres from the edge of the city. The rate of advance is likely to slow as Russian ground forces enter Pokrovsk's built-up areas.
Pokrovsk serves as a key logistics hub for the Donetsk oblast and, if taken, is likely to lengthen and divert existing Ukrainian supply lines. This will likely make it more difficult for Ukrainian Armed Forces to resupply and manoeuvre resources quickly to several key strongholds between Chasiv Yar and Vulhedar.
The operational tempo of military activity has remained low on all other frontlines in eastern and southern Ukraine with no major significant changes in territorial control.

This looks more like a unit that converts sulfur to sulfuric acid. The sulfur is recovered from H2S received from hydrotreating and is used in sulfuric acid alkylation units for reformulated gasoline with the alkylate enhancing octane (RON) rating. Such a unit also uses spent sulfuric acid to regenerate it.
Tigris, help me out here as to what you might think.

That could easily be correct. But I know very little about refineries and barely a little about sulfuric acid plant. From what I do know (from 30 years ago being inside a sulfuric acid reactor), sulfuric acid reactors are large dome shaped vessels with very large outlet pipes at the top since it is a low pressure reactor. And it is a strongly exothermic reaction so a steam generation reactor makes sense, and video 2 seems to show that (small pipes in the bottom (water), larger out the top sides(steam)).
Interesting to see Ukraine hitting a refinery in Moscow. It's always hard to know what is going on in a war but with the Kursk invasion this seems a bit like Ukraine's Tet offensive (sorry, that reference was more than 50 years ago, and so irrelevant to some).

Key Takeaways:
Ukrainian forces reportedly conducted the largest series of drone strikes against targets within Russia on the night of August 31 to September 1.
Ukrainian forces continued to conduct assaults in Kursk Oblast on September 1, but there were no confirmed Ukrainian advances.
Recent Russian domestic polls suggest that Ukraine's incursion into Kursk Oblast has not yet degraded Russian domestic support of the war in Ukraine in the short-term following the Kursk incursion and that Russian support for the war has remained high since 2022.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan confirmed at an August 31 press conference that "Armenia has frozen its participation in the [Russian-led Collective Security Treaty Organization] CSTO at all levels," after Armenia has effectively abstained from participating in the CSTO for nearly a year.
Russian forces recently advanced north of Kharkiv City, southeast of Kupyansk, southeast of Pokrovsk, and southwest of Donetsk City.

It won’t, and I don’t understand why people think it would
Sacrifice is a core feature of their culture. They burned Moscow to defy Napoleon. And this is just a small slice of the countryside in Kursk.

"Wow" is an understatement. This goes hard.
Video is from the 3rd Assault Brigade (Azov). The first part shows the POV of the drone dropping the incendiary material, and the second is from an observing drone.

“From half a century ago” - I.e. when the Soviet Union was around.
