I've seen some posts where the attack is at least 12 miles wide and deep into Russia. Chechen soldiers cut and run.

So since June 14th Russia has only averages capturing 30+ square miles of Ukraine per day?

And you think Russia is doing well? Do you understand how large Ukraine is? It’s not Trinidad.

If that is mostly fortified ground, its actually pretty good. Especially considering these are more isolated offensives rather than an across the board push.

Its not like every square mile from the front to Kiev is fortified. Gains like that are fairly meaningful, but also not necessarily indicative of imminent collapse.

Would they have enough forces to cut a major supply line like a railroad?

Be careful, you are sounding like a WWI general.

Well there is when you have to define the territorial losses as being somewhat significant for Ukraine, but extremely costly for Russia from an equipment and lives standpoint. But there are decades of evidence telling us Russia doesn't care about human death toll if they can accomplish their objectives

The fact that the Russians are advancing at all is very significant because in order for Ukraine to win, by their own definition of winning: run every last Russian out of Ukraine, including Crimea they would need to launch a massive offensive operation.

They don't have the men or the weapons now or on the distant horizon to get this done.

They can continue to get a splash headline by attacking airfields inside Russia and Crimea. And by making things very difficult for the Russian navy.

They are not tipping the balance in any way. Ukraine is slowly losing. This should not be a surprise to anyone.

Only NATO troops with NATO weapons could possibly dislodge the Russians and there is not a single NATO population that would support this. Certainly not for the cost in lives it would require.

How about some effort at diplomacy?

February 22, 2022- August 7, 2024. That’s nearly two and a half years of fighting. Is gaining on average 30 square miles a day the way for Russia to accomplish their objectives?

Personally I do not think that it is.

Sure they wind up with 30 square miles, but the towns and villages aren’t inhabitable. The residents have gone. What have they really gained?

Meanwhile their economy is stressed, their citizens are stressed, and the quality of life is beginning to decline.

Its incomprehensibly bizarre to me that Russia is still transporting gas across Ukraine and Ukraine is allowing it.

After two and a half years of grinding that’s not bad?

Then what is bad, having Ukraine pull an end run and take part of your territory.., oh wait????

The tweet he just posted has this craziness at the bottom:

quote:

In this case it was much more hardcore. Belousov himself called the Pentagon weapons peddler Austin and told him in no uncertain terms to tighten the leash on the Kiev goons - OR ELSE.

Now imagine the transcript of this blunt Russian message.

As Martyanov remarked, Belousov must have detailed how Kiev would simply cease to exist - and in due time, “so would D.C.” if the Americans decided to authorize the hit.

quote:

Moscow finally seems to be gettin' the picture: there’s no way to deal with terror entities, except to politely tell them in their faces they will be incinerated with no mercy

We really have a poster here approvingly promoting a nuclear attack on the capital city of our nation, and some idiots will pretend that he's some kind of patriotic American.

30 sq miles a day x 2.5 years. That is what you said, no?
