Couldn’t tell you. I believe it was undergoing seaworthy tests and was just about ready to go back into active service if it hadn’t already. Whether they have their full complement to run a test in the bay or a more skeleton crew or if it was sunk just tied to the dock. Either way there’s no chance they try fixing it all over again.

Also it looks like the attack at Morozovsk airfield on top of the ammo depot being destroyed was also a Su-34 bomber.

On Ukraine's Air Force Day, President Volodymyr Zelensky presented F-16 fighter jets in Ukrainian skies, emphasizing the beginning of a new phase in the Air Force’s development.

This is reported by an Ukrinform correspondent.

“We are now in a new phase of development for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We have done a lot to transition the Ukrainian Air Force to a new aviation standard – Western combat aviation. From the beginning of this war, we have been talking with our partners about the need to close the Ukrainian sky from Russian missiles and aircraft. We have held hundreds of meetings and negotiations to strengthen the capabilities of our aviation, air defense, and Defense Forces. We often heard the word "impossible" in response, but we made possible what was our ambition, our defense need, and now – it is a reality in our sky. F-16s in Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

I wonder what all the 18-25 year old Russian women will do for mates? Russia has lost 100,000-500,000 men. Will the Russian women turn into home wreckers and try to steal another woman’s husband or turn to foreigners?

An engineer on a decades long email group got himself a Russian mail order bride and out kicked his coverage. Unfortunately, she turned bipolar after they had a kid.

I still wish they’d paint the F-16s in the blue pixel Ukrainian camouflage. Talk about a mean looking bird!

My cousin got one maybe 35 years ago. She and her son lived with him exactly as long as needed to remain in the US and then split from him. Having apparently learned nothing from the experience he went back and bought a second Russian bride. And to everyone's shock she turned out to be a wonderful person and they've been married for 30 years. Good for you, Jim.

Shlomo is the English form of Solomon, who was a wise man. You certainly are not. Take your antisemitism and shove it.

ISW Update Aug 4

Key Takeaways:

Ukrainian forces reportedly conducted drone strikes against an oil depot in Rostov Oblast and missile strikes against fuel storage warehouses in occupied Luhansk City on August 4.

Ukraine confirmed that it has received the first batch of US-made F-16 fighter jets.

Russian milbloggers responded to the arrival of F-16s by trying to downplay their potential battlefield effects—directly undermining Russian information operations intended to frame the delivery of F-16s and other Western weapons systems as an uncrossable "red line."

Russian forces recently made confirmed advances east of Pokrovsk, west of Donetsk City, and in the Donetsk-Zaporizhia Oblast border area.

The Russian defense industry reportedly continues to produce missiles using Western-sourced components.

1. Do not blow up the dam that creates the reservoir which is your main source of water.

2. Do the Russians know they are supposed boil their water before drinking it?

From what I’ve read on this site that’s also a risk with female Cajuns.

Very interesting Twitter thread about the decline in Russian railway traffic: LINK

What's not clear is the reason for the decline, but the implication is that Russia can't get the new locomotives it needs and can't repair the ones it has without western parts.

INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 05 August 2024

On 31 July 2024, the Russian State Duma approved a bill that would strip citizenship from naturalised citizens if they fail to register for military service. The bill was co-sponsored by Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, indicating approval from the Kremlin.

When signed into law, the practical consequences for Russian military recruitment is probably limited, though independent Russian media continue to report that law enforcement harass migrant communities including to generate military recruits and this law provides another form of legal coercion in this regard.

This law should also be seen in the context of increasing anti-migrant sentiment being stoked by some members of the Russian government, particularly against those of Central Asian origin/extraction. This sentiment and rhetoric has notably increased since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 probably as part of an attempt to establish additional sources of government legitimacy in the face of high casualties and reductions in living standards.
