British Defence Intelligence
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE
29 November 2023
Through November 2023, the Russian air force has likely started to more frequently employ the RBK-500 500kg cluster munition bomb. Depending on the variant, each RBK-500 ejects between approximately 100 and 350 sub-munitions. In turn, each sub-munition typically detonates with either hundreds of high-velocity fragments, or a single, larger anti-tank charge.
RBK-500 are reported to have been deployed against Ukrainian forces on the Vuhledar axis and near Avdiivka, both in Donetsk Oblast. There is a realistic possibility that, as with other air-dropped bombs, Russia has likely recentlyintegrated a UMPC guided stand-off glide kit with RBK-500. This allows the carrying aircraft to release the munition many kilometres away from the target.
Russia's glide bomb kits have generally achieved poor accuracy. However, with its large number of sub-munitions, a single RBK-500 can cause effects over an area of several hundred metres, increasing the chance of inflicting at least some damage on the intended target.

I listened on BBC as the defense minister of Ukraine touted bombing Crimean citizens along with russians and when questioned on it she just didnt give a shat.
You people are so brainwashed its sad. You are the same people who believe there is no hamas just a bunch of innocent palis.

When the ATO began they called themselves punishers. It gives you a window into how they (the nationalists) saw things.
The shelling was an ineffective form of collective punishment, but it did kill people. To some degree, the current shelling may have also been designed to draw a Russian attack. As said, Avdiika is heavily fortified.
The bulk of the attacking forces come from the old Donbas militia that was folded into the Russian Army in 22.
They don’t consider them their people.

Ukraine better negotiate now before they run out of the last bullet, which is coming soon. Had they focused on actually fighting a war instead of stealing everything they could, the result might have given them a little leverage. As it is they have nothing and the day US funding is gone they are toast.
This nonsense of trying to be defiant is reminiscent of the Persians and Alexander the Great....with the same outcome looming.

That’s hilarious since Russia is aligned with Iran and Hamas.

Around 5,000 Russian personnel have been killed or wounded near Avdiivka and Marinka since 10 October, according to the Ukrainian Southern Tavriisk Group of Forces Spokesperson Colonel Oleksandr Shtupun.
He added that some 400 armoured vehicles have been destroyed in the region.
Russia has not confirmed or denied that claim.
quote:
"Since the start of October 2023, Russian forces have moved the front line forwards up to 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) in this area," the post continued. "Although modest, this advance likely represents one of the greatest Russian gains since spring 2023. It has cost the units involved thousands of casualties."
quote:LINK
Russian troop casualties were averaging 931 a day in November, significantly more than the previous high of 776 a day in March—when Russian and Ukrainian forces were locked in the brutal fight for control of Bakhmut, another small Donetsk city.
Russia is likely to run out of soldiers before Ukraine runs out of bullets. Just take a look at these videos of a Russian soldier walking down a road near Adviika (warning graphic due lots of corpses). Russia is losing almost an estimated 1000 troops per day in November and that is on top of the estimated 5,000 troops that were killed in October. Russia lost 81 tanks last week alone. What has Russia gained from all of these loses a few patches of land around a Adviika with the largest being around 2 km in size.

The first of the FrankenSam systems is now operational in Ukraine. These systems will use Ukraine's soviet era launchers and radars to fire western missiles. Ukraine has plenty of launchers and we have plenty of deactivated missiles which need disposing of. What better way to dispose of them than to blast some Rusky missiles.

With American systems it is said to have a range of about 50km.

He won't be remembered like Peter the Great, that's for certain.
Russia faces hyper inflation, they're forced to produce more oil and sell for lower prices (hint: higher revenue =/= higher profits) and they're burning through infrastructure and capital. Russia has 15% interest rates, a falling currency and no exports to sell, as well as few export markets to sell in.
Oh, add in the humiliation of getting stymied and stalled by the poorest country in Europe before the West/NATO/US got involved in spring of '22. And add in the humiliation of Russia's equipment failing so spectacularly that India is trying to move from Russian to S Korean weapon systems for their army... as well as dozens of other countries abandoning Russian equipment.
... at least 1m young educated workers fled Russia as the war broke out, a braindrain of unprecidented size for a country with a demographic crisis specific to educated younger workers...
Oh, I could go on and on. But, per PT, Russia gained like 8% more land in Ukraine, so I guess they've proven to be the braverest, smarterest, strongerest of all countries?

That is not bad. If they work out that will be huge because the Buk launchers are one of the main parts of Ukraine's air defenses and they are running out of missiles. Finding a new source of missiles for their launchers on equipment which they don't need months of training on is going to be important.

It’s not actually 50 km, Probably actually around 20ish miles or 35 km, whichever you prefer. That is if they use the AIM-9 Sidewinder as the primary missile and it’s one we have large stocks of. Still very effective if Ukraine has the Buk launchers and radars left in numbers.

Unconfirmed Telegram Reports that a warehouse in Bryansk, Russia, storing Shahed drones (Russian name: Geran-2) has been hit. Locals report that at 18:12 local time explosions rocked the city.

Not sure if anyone has already heard about this and not the greatest source but apparently on May 13th of this year one of Ukraine’s Patriot batteries shot down 5 Russian aircraft in 5 minutes. 1 Su-34, 1 Su-35, 2 Mi-8 MTPR-1 (the very rare EW helicopters) and 1 regular Mi-8 also. They also shot down another Su-35 over the Black Sea in the days after May 13.

It would be nice, but, this sounds like Ghost of Kiev level propaganda to me. Way too good to be true.

Per wikipedia they have 72 buk systems. I’m assuming one system = one launcher.
