I’ve heard of compium and hopium … but social media is filled with hype-ium.

Either Ukraine is attempting a massive tank push or people are running wild with rumors.

As funny as it is, it's not a real RT story.

them? Boy you should’ve been around during the early days of the Iraq war.

Oh really were US pilots given NVGs with no training on the NVGs or night flying training and no batteries for and told to fly combat missions at night? The Russian pilots were and the only thing that kept them alive was the fact that they used not having batteries for NVGs as “mechanical issues” which got their missions scrubbed. Did the US military have those problems in Iraq?

Throughout the Ukrainian offensive, Russia has retreated, regrouped, and counterattacked. I have learned the hard way to be careful in proclaiming Ukrainian victories until after the counter has failed.

We’ll see but usually where there is smoke there is fire. I don’t recall seeing this much smoke on twitter and the russian TH channels during the offensive. In fact, I don’t recall seeing this much smoke since the Kharkiv offensive last fall. Also none of my Ukrainian sauces and connections are answering. That means that they are all busy. Usually I can atleast get one or two to respond saying that it’s going down or no this is not a big deal, but none are responding. That is something else that hasn’t happened since the Kharkiv offensive last fall. It could all be a nothingburger or a set back for Ukraine but all signs point to something big is going down at the moment and I am going to be optimistic.

Really? The US sent Apache helicopters out on night missions without ever training Apache helicopter pilots how to fly at night?

You children probably dont remember this but right after the USSR collapsed the biggest items they were selling were AK-47s and night vision binoculars. I guess they didn’t keep any.

So...a sudden build of flammable gas expelled due to myocarditis which was set off by a lit cigarette?

Putin has wealth likely in the Arnault/Musk area. Are you suggesting he stole from every corner of Russia and didn't bother to pilfer the military too?

The grift in the Russian military is well known to go all the way down to the squad level with an "acceptable" amount of grift at each layer.

Having the unfortunate privilege to be a security officer* for a line company I can tell you in the US Army if it ain't nailed down and it is cool looking or the surplus stores are paying for it then it will disappear. I would bet the Russian military is FAR worse and everything I have read indicates it is.

Two well-known "jokes" in the military:

Gear adrift is a gift.

There is only one thief in the Army, everyone else is trying to get their shite back.

I watched PASGT (Kevlar) helmet play musical chairs for months. The first guy borrowed one and sold his then the next guy borrowed someone else's and so on until the unlucky one that was missing his when we were scheduled to be in the field had to go and buy one (possibly the first one borrowed from the other poor SOB in the company that got sold off base). He bought it because he didn't want any part of a FLIPL report.

* at least in my day the 1st company level job when you got your platoon as a butter bar was being the security officer because nobody wanted to have to sign for and be responsible for all that crap. You better be damn sure everything is there you are signing for. You better look in that case to make sure the AN/PVS-4 (night vision sight) is actually in its case... I got lucky by being anal as the previous security officer was either unaware or trying to kick the can down the road.

INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 25 August 2023

On 23 August 2023, exactly two months after the Wagner Group's mutiny, a Wagner-associated Embraer business jet crashed near Tver, between Moscow and St Petersburg. The Russian authorities claim 10 people on board died, including Wagner owner Yevgeny Prigozhin. There is not yet definitive proof that Prigozhin was onboard and he is known to exercise exceptional security measures. However, it is highly likely that he is indeed dead.

The demise of Prigozhin would almost certainly have a deeply destabilising effect on the Wagner Group. His personal attributes of hyper-activity, exceptional audacity, a drive for results and extreme brutality permeated Wagner and are unlikely to be matched by any successor.

Wagner's leadership vacuum would be compounded by the reports that founder and field commander Dimitry Utkin and logistics chief Valery Chekalov also died.

First messages emerged when Russian mercenary with the call sign "13th" published on his channel an audio message attacking the commander of the 205th Brigade. This was followed up by 4-5 other channels confirming this information and also mentioning similar situations developing in a number of other units

I have a Russian coworker who actually flies an Embraer jet in Moscow for rich Russians. A couple of months ago he was telling me how hard it was to get parts to keep the airplane airworthy because of the sanctions. It’s possible that the plane simply crashed due to poor maintenance. It’s more likely that Putin killed him but it’s not out of the real of possibly that the plane simply crashed. Also if occurs to me that I should check up on Aleskey.

I’m sure we can all come up with a list of “possible” reasons

But to have all these big players on one plane and it crash killing them all just be a big coincidence……

Do I know the details of how Putin steals from the Russian government and Russian people? No. However, I do know that corruption in Russia is so rampant that Putin and his allies get a percentage of every single ruble that is spent by the Russian government on pretty much everything. So it is asinine for you to assume that Putin is not stealing from the military just like he steals from every other aspect of Russian society.

1. Your friend must be getting paid really well to fly planes for Russians especially knowing that plane might have questionable or poor maintenance. Dude has bigger balls than me and I am not afraid to admit it.

2. From the pictures and videos that I have seen on social media there was an explosion of some kind in the sky and the plane appears to have lost one of its wings as a result. That would have to be some really poor maintenance.

Could an engine have exploded because of a mechanical failure due to poor maintenance absolutely, but would that have caused the plane to lose a wing especially since the engines on the Embraer 600 are located on the back of the plane? I guess it is possible but seems unlikely. I think the most probable causes are shot down by missile, FSB placed a bomb on board, pilot had explosive diarrhea and his covid mRNA booster vaccine and his farts exploded from the copilot smoking, and then mechanical failure.
