According to the US and NATO observers and advisors that I have talked to. Not only is the average Iraqi insurgent or Taliban fighter better equipped than the average Russian soldier today, the average Soviet soldier in Afghanistan in the 80s as better equipped than the Russian soldier in Ukraine. When are y'all going to realize just how bad the Russian army really is? Russian soldiers are wearing foot wrappings with writing on them saying that they were made in the USSR. Corruption in Russia is so bad that the Russian army cannot even keep its soldiers in socks because 80-90% of the money allocated for the Russian army is stolen by everyone from Putin down to lowly purchasing officer. Why are you surprised Russia does not have night vision capability?
I’m surprised because Night vision isn’t some new or expensive technology. I’m almost certain that every helicopter pilot in Russia has access to night vision goggles. I’m also certain that most Russian helicopter pilots don’t have the required training or experience to safely and effectively fly with them, especially in combat conditions. I’ve flown with NVGs. It’s not incredibly difficult but it does take a decent amount of practice and getting used to. Granted I’ve only taken off and landed with them in fixed wing aircraft , not flown nap of the earth while getting shot at in a helicopter.

Ukraine is an elite fighting force with NATO training, vastly superior NATO equipment, and homefield advantage.

Ukraine has attempted at least 10+ night time attacks during the counteroffensive and not one of them has been successful.
Can you provide links or personal experiences to back up your claims?

You also had batteries for your NVGs and socks when you were flying. Most Russian pilots today do not.

Every pair of NVGs I’ve ever used took AA batteries

It's insane how many casualties Ukraine has taken while fighting this third world army.
Do you ever make a good point or is it just emoting and snark all the way down? The OP has claimed, and I'm sure can verify, that he has worked in Ukraine in field hospitals (I think, as he's a doctor), and thus already has a specific bias. A normal person who is literate about how to include sources into a larger framework of evidence can include this information and compare it to other information to test the strength of the specific claims. You have to be proportion belief to the evidence on hand. Instead what you do is give us the most retarded emotional reaction, which also allows you to avoid any wrestling with the claims at all.
Here's a link about Russian night-vision issues from July of 2022 from a decent YT channel. LINK

is it anything like scopes?
shitty night vision civilian scopes aren’t good beyond a certain range. I’d imagine good night vision that has good resolution and distance definition necessary for flying would be expensive as frick but I dunno

Here's another article about some issues the Russians have had with NVG. LINK

Not confirmed by the AFU General Staff
Russian sources claim Novoprokopivka, just south of Robotyne, is under AFU control.
If this is try, there is a huge counteroffensive in progress stretching from Kopane in the the west to Novopokrovka in the east.
Fog of war, for sure, but the orcs are absolutely panicking right now.
LINK
Novoprokopivka, Novopokrovka, Tokmak, and Tokmachka. Only Ukraine would have places with such similar names so close to each other.

And on an unrelated note

Explosions reported near the City of Simferopol in Central Crimea as well as near the Tarkhankut Peninsula in the Northwest where the Raid last night by Ukrainian Special Forces took place.

I know that it is likely a Russian troll or an unbelievably stupid American. But they are so stupid. God damn.

Those NVGs are worthless without those AA batteries. Russia does not provide socks to its troops why are you expecting them to provide batteries to them?

Yep if Novoprovikia has fallen then there will be flag raising videos in the morning.

Throughout the Ukrainian offensive, Russia has retreated, regrouped, and counterattacked. I have learned the hard way to be careful in proclaiming Ukrainian victories until after the counter has failed.

The Wagner Group will likely no longer exist as a quasi-independent parallel military structure following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s almost certain assassination of Wagner financier Yevgeny Prigozhin, Wagner founder Dmitry Utkin, and reported Wagner logistics and security head Valery Chekalov on August 23.
Putin delivered a brief de facto eulogy of Prigozhin and reportedly deceased Wagner leadership on August 24, and portrayed Prigozhin as his loyal subordinate up until his death, the armed rebellion notwithstanding.
The exact cause of Prigozhin’s plane crash remains unclear as US and Russian sources offered varying explanations, while Wagner-affiliated channels continued to call on Russian sources to stop speculating
The Wagner Council of Commanders have notably not released a public statement following the downing of Prigozhin’s plane
Putin’s almost certain assassination of Wagner’s leadership has made it very clear that the Kremlin will be outwardly hostile to those who attempt to secure independence for their own parallel military structures
The June 24 agreement between Putin, Prigozhin, and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko was likely invalidated by the destruction of Prigozhin’s aircraft, and Lukashenko will likely remain silent on the matter to avoid provoking Putin and further risking his already vulnerable position
Putin may avoid making Prigozhin a martyr, but Utkin’s assassination will likely become a long-term grievance for Wagner personnel.
The Russian information space largely refrained from linking the Kremlin and the Russian MoD to Prigozhin’s and Utkin’s assassination
Ukrainian forces advanced closer to the Russian second line of defense in the Robotyne area in western Zaporizhia Oblast on August 24, further widening their breach of Russian defensive lines in the area
Ukrainian Southern Operational Command Spokesperson Captain First Rank Nataliya Humenyuk reported that Russian forces are conducting additional lateral redeployments from Kherson Oblast to the frontline in Zaporizhia Oblast, suggesting that Ukrainian forces have further degraded Russian defensive lines in the area
Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated boilerplate anti-Western rhetoric at the BRICS summit on August 24 despite some members’ statements against turning BRICS into an “anti-Western” organization
Russian forces conducted a missile strike on Dnipro City, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on August 24
Ukrainian forces conducted a limited raid on the western shore of occupied Crimea on August 24.

Russian forces conducted offensive operations along the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, near Bakhmut, along the Avdiivka-Donetsk City line, and in western Zaporizhia Oblast on August 24, and reportedly advanced.
Ukrainian forces conducted offensive operations along at least two sectors of the front on August 24 and advanced near Bakhmut and in western Zaporizhia Oblast.
