Maybe to the West it isn't. Does Xi believe that?
I would imagine they would invade if he is desperate but why do we think he feels that way?

And that's just what we publicly know of.

I spent a couple years as a comms planner for EUCOM, specifically on missile defense and how to integrate data communication between various US and allied missile defense systems.
I might have been exposed to a thing or two on this subject.

Xi doesn’t have forces in Taiwan unlike in Hong Kong. They owned that city and were patient. It’s a very, very different situation than taking Taiwan.
Also China isn’t hiding the ball here. Their state media isn’t saying it’s not IF they invade, but WHEN.

Are we going to sink one in international waters when we’re not at war with them
Nope but as soon as the war goes hot most will be quickly sunk. I thought once the Soviets found out from a spy their boats were incredibly loud they started just sulking around their bases and under the Arctic.
I know the Victor IIIs attack subs are quieter, not sure on the new Boreri boomers.

We know where they all are. They are tracked the moment they leave port. They are not getting anywhere near the US coast with any sort of aggressive movement.

Yes.
The GMD system is specifically designed to intercept ICBMs in space.
It would not at all be able to defend against a Russian attack.

Realistically, logistically getting the planes back to Ukraine without it being seen as an act of war by Poland is going to hold it up.

A full Russian launch? No. But the question originally asked was a single ICMB launch from Russia. A single ICBM, or even a handful, are not getting through.
