want this Cold War hangover to be over with. Zelenskyy is playing the world by literally massacring his civilians and potentially others with his performance! Russia invaded because our governments were too stupid and greedy to come to a resolution.
How far is Putins cock down your throat?

Oh yes it is. They’re paying attention to this situation very closely to see how this works out for Russia. If Kiev surrenders today, I guarantee by next week our satellites will pick up that they’ll be massing up troops on the southeast coast.
As a data point I think it's pretty useless, or at least no more useful than any other conflict observed by any war-waging nation. What's more, it's unnecessary. I'm sure China has warplanned the Taiwan actions and contingencies to death.

In this case, he is probably right. I think Poland has some spare Migs that they want to give to Ukraine, but I doubt there’s a “neutral” way to fly them directly into Ukraine via Polish air bases.
Perhaps, but that guy and a couple of other posters have been wishcaasting success for all things Putin and woe is me for all things western democracy for awhile now.
I'm old enough to remember how when I was little the old Soviet Union was looked on that way - like they were the Alabama of college football or the John Curtis of Louisiana high school football- almost invincible. Until they collapsed. (Come to think if it Bama and Curtis have not been so invincible lately either).

And Russia hasn’t with Ukraine? This invasion is going much worse than Putin and his generals expected. Taiwan is going to take months to conquer since they will not be bombing them on mass as we’re seeing in Ukraine. It’s going to take a while for China to take Taiwan.

From Russia? 30 min. From a submarine? 5 minutes.
You think a russian boomer could make it close enough to the US coast for a five minute missile launch?

No.
GMD, THAAD, and AEGIS all say hello.

Even if you’re right, something like that would take at least a year to operationalize properly

Are we going to sink one in international waters when we’re not at war with them?

Why would Xi do that knowing that they did a hostile takeover of HK and nobody in the west blinked an eye? They don't need to use military force.

We know where they all are. They are tracked the moment they leave port. They are not getting anywhere near the US coast with any sort of aggressive movement.

Yes.
The GMD system is specifically designed to intercept ICBMs in space.

I actually agree. It will take a long time to take Taiwan since those people will fight to the death and there are hundreds if not thousands of bunkers in the middle of the mountains.

While the environment *gestures generally at everything* favors a Taiwan invasion
I question whether it's a risk China wants to take considering it's more or less eating the lunch of the West as it is. I don't see an artificial clock of the type we've discussed for Ukraine (Putin's health, for example, or NATO membership) compelling the Chinese to urgency.

They can sit there all they want. And the minute they posture to launch, the fast attack sub tracking them will sink them.
You don't think we don't know the exact movements and preparations for launch that have to be made?
You've watched too much The Hunt for Red October.

China’s only real deadline to taking Taiwan is 2025 when Trump or DeSantis is President. Summer 2022 seems to be the perfect time to invade Taiwan. As noted by people here, it will take quite sometime to take the island, so if Xi is going to invade, now is the time. And the weather is like San Diego year round (outside of the mountains) so that’s not going to deter him from taking the cities and coast.
