in 1941 it took 20 tons to blow the dam, that was built in 1932. We are not talking about a 500 lb bomb here so yes it would register.

But if the dam was blown and the seismology wave report is being used to show this the times do not add up.

From the footage I posted earlier, if it is genuine, it is clearly evident the dam was blown before 02:46, so any waves would have already travelled well past where the the report was registered.

Edit:

From cyphers reply post it seems like it would have registered as an acoustic signal wave rather than a seismic wave which with the distance of 620km would have taken about 32 minutes travel. Will see if I can find out what sort of signal wave the analysis in the article describes.

This could be credible evidence of an explosion as it ties in with a several claims of locals of large explosion like sounds between 2:00 and 2:20 which haven't had any corroborating facts prior to this, which I have been putting down to the noise of the dam breaching.

Pentagon Readies New $2 Billion Ukraine Air Defense Package

quote:

The Pentagon is set to announce as early as Friday a long-term arms package for Ukraine heavy on air defense munitions valued at more than $2 billion, according to administration officials.

The money, to be awarded under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, will bankroll the purchase of Hawk missile launchers and missiles and two types of advanced Patriot air defense missiles.

One is the Patriot Advanced Capability Missile-3, or Pac-3, manufactured by Lockheed Martin Corp. The other is called the Guidance Enhanced Missile, or GEM-T, made by Raytheon Technologies Corp that it says “provides improved ability to defeat tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles or enemy aircraft in complement to the PAC-3 missile.”
quote:

The US announced last November that it would supply Hawk systems from its own inventories but they had to be refurbished with USAI funds.

All that Patriot work is expensive stuff.

A covert underwater explosion large enough to take that dam out would have been hard to miss, water would have been blown several hundred meters up. It would also take a lot more explosives than a few frogs could haul in. Just putting explosives on the exterior even with the restrictions of the water means you are going to have to use a LOT of explosives. Dams aren't delicate like bridges.

Go do some reading: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound

TLDR: Frequency remains the same, only the wavelength and velocity are effected.

An important reminder from ISW:
quote:

Ukraine reportedly formed 12 dedicated counteroffensive brigades, nine equipped with Western kit and three with existing equipment, and these units will almost certainly be joined by experienced Ukrainian units already online

From the reports that I've read, as of this afternoon, only something like 4 or 5 of those 15 brigades had entered the fight. If anyone knows differently, I'd love to read it.

From Russian Telegram channel Two Majors:

The problem with the wheels has been going on for over a year. They wear out, the norms are old, do not correspond to the times.

From all over the front they wrote more than once that they would not give out, "until the mileage is needed"

Some rear scum also manage to take bribes on this.

The problem (https://t.me/dva_majors/17260) requires a response at the level of the Ministry of Defense.

The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) responded to the Ukrainian attack with an uncharacteristic degree of coherency and praised Southern Military District elements for repelling the attack and regaining lost positions.

The Russian army has a long-held reputation for stoic defense going back to the Napoleonic Wars. They tend to struggle with offensive operations. And logistics is as foreign a concept to them as is quantum physics to my daughter’s pug. But the one thing the Russians are legendary for, is defensive warfare.

Not saying the Ukrainian offensive will fail. I’m just saying it won’t be easy and it’s going to take a lot of Ukrainian blood to succeed.

INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 09 June 2023

The Black Sea Grain Initiative (BSGI) was extended by 60 days on 17 May 2023. However, Russia almost certainly continues to hinder grain exports by deliberately slowing inspections and actively blocking some vessels. Currently, only one or two ships are being inspected per day, compared with six to eight in Autumn 2022.

Russia is likely attempting to force concessions on the re-opening of the Togliatti-Odesa pipeline, which exports ammonia from Russia through Ukraine, via Odesa. To complicate the situation, in recent days, the pipeline was damaged and is not currently operational.

There is likely to be further Russian rhetoric and obstruction of the BSGI in the weeks prior to the next extension deadline of 16 July 2023.

Air Force: Ukraine downs 4 cruise missiles, 10 drones launched by Russia.

by Olena Goncharova June 9, 2023 8:15 AM

Ukrainian air defenses shot down four of six cruise missiles and ten of 16 drones that Russia used to attack military facilities and critical infrastructure overnight on June 9, the Air Force of Ukraine's Armed Forces reported.

The missiles were type Kh-101s and Kh-55s, fired by missile carrier aircraft Tu-95MS from near the Caspian Sea. The Ukrainian forces downed 10 attack drones Shahed-136/131, Lancet as well as four Orlan-10 and Supercam type drones.

Overnight, explosions were reported in Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts.

Vid of Russians fleeing, I am more interested in the vehicles in the foreground. Look like humvees or MRAPS to me. They look knocked out.
