Ukrainian forces close to tactically encircling Bakhmut – Commander Syrskyi
21.05.2023 15:42

Ukrainian warriors are advancing on the flanks in the suburbs of the Donetsk region’s Bakhmut and are close to tactically encircling the city.

The relevant statement was made by Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, an Ukrinform correspondent reports, referring to Military Media Center.

According to Syrskyi, Ukrainian forces are now controlling a small part of Bakhmut, but its defense is very important, as this allows them to enter the city immediately as the situation changes.

“We continue advancing on the flanks in the suburbs of Bakhmut and are actually close to tactically encircling the city. Thanks to this, we will be able to control all high-rise buildings seized by the enemy and gradually decimate them. This deprives the enemy of control over the approaches to the city and gives us certain tactical benefits,” Syrskyi noted.

In his words, the actions of the Ukrainian military and the procedure for destroying the enemy were discussed in detail with the commanders.

After getting the heat from the Russian government by being fairly accurate on Ukraine's breakthrough from Kharkiv to Lyman, Rybar has been far less accurate since.

Just sayin...

Yeah whenever I look and see there have been 7-10 new pages in a relatively short order I just automatically scroll to the end now because I know the trolls have shown up and I’m not wasting those few minutes of my life reading their ridiculous garbage. If they don’t like it so much they don’t have to click the post but they can’t help themselves from being gigantic douchebags.

Yes it would be, though if he was successfully targeted it was the perfect time for Russia to do so and would be one of the few instances where they have achieved a significant strategic victory in a timely manner. As others stated, the most likely answer is that he is too busy on more important things to be running around in public. Without visual or hard evidence beyond the current hypotheticals and unverified claims on twitter it's still merely a rumour.

Losing a top general would definitely be a blow. Not only would it cost you a top leader, but it would demonstrate that Russia is getting more proficient with their rockets and that their intel is improving.

Now the general may not be surfacing because it may all be a ploy to get him to surface where he then might be in danger.

Ah that's neat, so they say they are giving away a billion from their stockpile but then taking an asset off the books that is worth much less. Is that what you're saying? I wonder what the true value of what we've given is then in that case. Must be much less right?

Why should we spend billions? If we do then let’s do it the right way and send more troops instead of just weapons and then rebuild the country.

Yet if we do that then we escalate the risk of nuclear attack.

Is any of the aid going to rebuild the nation?

According to Girkin the Russians are completely exhausted after Bakhmut, and the time for Ukraine to strike is nigh. In my opinion, if the Ukrainian offensive doesn’t manifest itself in the near future, it would suggest to me that Ukrainian capabilities are less than what they appear on paper.

Yeah, the Russians have donated the first 400 billion toward the rebuild.

You are making good sense.

I said this months ago. Russia pushed very hard to take Bakmuth. They didn’t have time to set up a string defense as they did elsewhere.

Ukraine could attack the Russian pincers which were designed to surround Bakmuth, but never did. Crush the pincers and then they could envelop the Russians in Bakmuth who did not have time to set up a defense.

“Now that the Ukraine supporters are claiming Bakhmut was of no strategic importance…

Flashback to 12/21/2022:

Zelensky speaks before US Congress.

He says Bakhmut is the “stronghold in the Donbas” and that the Battle for Bakhmut will “change the trajectory of our war”.
