Why are you concerned about our stockpiles?
More curious than concerned, looking for direction in one way or another actually.

Who are we going to go to war with in the next few years?
More curious of the affects to support other allies in the same nature as we have Ukraine who have similar longstanding neighborly enemies:
Israel being surrounded, but most directly Iran. - understand they have significant armaments and tech of their own, but point remains.
South Korea. - understand they have significant armaments and tech of their own, but point remains.
Secondarily, the potential deterrent effect provided for the ME as a whole beyond just Israel, but Saudi Arabia. Don’t consider them an ally and I think that’s been shown the last 2 years, but the disruption to come from a legitimate war involving them and global energy is an issue.
Of course if for some reason we get directly involved somewhere, obviously off the continental US, what’s the value in having those available in half or better the distance to the front line?
Again, certainly an argument to be made they remained there with some degree of thought to the need to do exactly what they’re being sent to do now, fight Russia quickly and without a vast transport effort.

Everyone likes to focus on WW2 and the Soviet steamroller but what about WW1? The Russian soldiers tired of being used as machine gun fodder, tired of lacking proper equipment, etc mutinied. A few more major victories by Ukraine and history will repeat itself. Eventually Russia will run out of convicts whose options are charge the Ukrainian positions with the small hope of getting pardoned or die a slow death in a Russian prison.
Yes, Russia did quit in WWI. But keep in mind it took almost four years of fighting, almost two million dead soldiers, over a million and a half dead civilians, and a communist revolution before they finally quit.

That is a solid no because Russia has realized it was a paper tiger and despite what its media says it knows it has bitten off more than it can chew with Ukraine so they are not going to start anything with anyone else.
Good -then we can reduce our presence in Europe once all this is over.

British Defence Intelligence
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 18 January 2023
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
By the end of 16 January 2023, Ukrainian forces had highly likely withdrawn from the Donbas town of Soledar, leaving Russian military and Wagner Group proxy forces in control. Ukrainian forces have likely established new defensive lines to the west.
Russia's advance on Soledar primarily consisted of Wagner forces and was a supporting operation aimed to enable the eventual envelopment of the larger settlement of Bakhmut. One of Ukraine's two main supply routes into Bakhmut is now under increasing pressure.
Imagery shows that since the start of January 2023, the south and east of Bakhmut has continued to be subjected to intense artillery bombardment. Ukrainian forces almost certainly continue to defend against Russian forces on the outskirts of the city.

Possibly, but that depends a lot on how it ends and what Russia looks like going forward.

Canada's Defence Minister is in Kyiv and posts on twitter:
Canada isn't ruling out giving some Leopards, but that has also not yet been promised. I still think we'll see Canada give some up at Ramstein.
The US, by the way, is also supposedly going to announce another package at Ramstein, and Biden and Scholz had a phone conversation last night about aid to Ukraine. Politico's EU reporter now says that there's widespread expectation of a deal to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
Edit: the Latvian defense minister was also in Kyiv today and said:

We’ve heard it clearly: Ukraine’s Armed Forces appreciate the manoeuvrability, durability, and agility of Canadian-made Roshel armoured vehicles. That’s why we’re sending 200 more of these armoured vehicles to Ukraine.

The last time Israel went in to Lebanon they had to stop operations because they ran out of everything, mostly small arms ammo (5.56) and 155 shells. So this stash has been sitting there since then. Better used in Ukraine than sitting in Israel.
Was this stash of ammo just sitting around waiting on someone in the US to give the go ahead to use?
Personally I think it’s great that people think they know what resources we have, but they really do not.
Good for us.

I don’t think Ukraine is one bit worried about Lviv or Kyiv being under attack.
All Russia has to do is threaten the second front and that ties down a large portion of the Ukrainian army in the north.

Correct
Ukraine has to consider Belarus a threat. The key is diagnosing the situation through intelligence.
Could Russia sneak 100s of thousands of soldiers and equipment into Belarus? I doubt it.
But Ukraine had to plan ahead in case Russia does send divisions into Belarus. You are right about that.

my question is really what is the total end game for both countries?
Lets say russia secures the oblasts they have said is theirs....do they stop and try to reach a peace agreement? or do they carry on the fighting? How can they preach that Kviv is run by Nazis and Kviv is really russian etc and then stop at only the oblasts?
lets say ukraine drives russia from all ukrainian territory but crimea, do they come to an agreement?
what if they take all ukrainian territory....does russia suddenly just quit?
the longer this goes on...harder it is for me to see this stopping anytime soon so long as putin is in charge. I just dont see him giving up at any point or how he can politically.
i mean by end of the summer he is going to be at 200k dead minimum. he is going to announce full war today imo and another mobilization.....just how long can it go on?
ukraine side by the end of summer...prolly be at 250k dead, millions displaced, country in ruins...will they accept a deal?
lots of questions to be answered in blood.

We quit in Vietnam, and Afghanistan (kinda).
They wore us down politically in Vietnam. We finally realized that enough was enough,
In Afghanistan we accomplished our initial goal and then decided to try abd change their culture. Of course that was impossible and we finally realized that and decided to leave but didn’t do that very well.

If they are sending tanks, why aren’t they sending ATACMS. They already have the equipment, support and training to use this.

Ukraine is fighting for survival.
Russia now appears to be after a bridge too far. Unlike Market Garden they just can’t regroup and have a do over.
It’s not a good situation for either side.
