No one is dancing around that? Dead stock is dead stock...either you scrap it or donate it. Either way it's going off the books to give more real estate to shinier objects that make bigger boom booms

IMO the only countries in NATO that could hang with Ukraine right now are the USA, the UK, and Poland. The rest would all overrun by Ukraine.

Do you really think that if Ukraine balks on any concessions, even though they shouldn't have to, that Russia will say ok and end this. If Putin uses a nuke, to try and save face, it will be because of not giving him any options. No, Putin doesn't deserve concessions but the Ukrainian citizens don't deserve getting nuked because we played hard arse either

This is Putin’s game, give him what he wants or he’ll throw nukes around. He has beaten that drum so often that no one wants to give up an inch of Ukraine to him.

I remember early on, Zelensky was open to giving up the Donbas and Crimea if the Russians would just stop. He, along with the rest of the world, thought Russia was a legitimate military power. I’m sure he saw no way for Ukraine to successfully resist Russia.

Putin, being the classic delusional dictator, decided that he wanted all of Ukraine. This forced the Ukrainians to fight.

Lo and behold, the Orcs proved to be weak. The West jumped on Ukraines’s side and we know the rest of the story.

The consensus from the West, I think, is that Russia must be defeated. No concessions, no territorial appeasements. Nothing.

Putin has had it his way too long and he must stop or be stopped. It seems obvious to anyone who is following this war closely that Putin won’t stop on his own. He seems to be either too greedy or just dumb.

So, the war must continue until he is stopped, by any means necessary.

Anyone who is willing to use nuclear weapons to "save face" isn't worth negotiating with. Full stop.

If that's the situation we are facing, then the only route forward is to go full blown proxy war, give Ukraine every bit of support they need to bleed Russia for the rest of Putin's natural life. And I say that as someone who thinks the US federal budget should be about 1% of what it is now. But nuclear powers can't be allowed to be that frivolous. That's an existential threat that simply can't be allowed.

Not to mention (cynically) the promotional value of some of that equipment being seen in use. Those HIMARS have to be in huge demand like the Javelins. But even the old stock... if we donate half to the cause and it proves effective, there will be a market to sell the other half.

Well that’s inevitable. Also saw Colbert will be announcing it, so of course Zelensky is going to be it. All of this is because Zelensky is frickable. If he looked like Henry Kissinger, you people would be looking at this like you look at a rainstorm.

Has the big freeze happened yet? That’s not an if, it’s a when. When it happens, that’s when my predictions become applicable.

Bitch it is November, and you said we would see food shortages and mass riots. You also owe some people some money.

You will always move the goalposts, but you are also a dumb bitch.

Well there are food shortages, so I’m right about that, but no it takes for the big freeze for the mass riots to happen. Last I checked it’s November 5th and thus have 25 days left in November. My predictions are still on schedule.

Then IF you're right let's stop half a**ing it and go full out. If this does turn into Ww3 I want us to have the first strike. IF this is where it is headed than why give our old trash weapons, as I've been told we have, and let Ukraine use our top line weapons. IF we are not willing to go all in then, imo, we are just doing Ukraine a disservice and prolonging the suffering.

If you are right that Putin would be willing to drop a nuke to save face, I would agree with you. I simply don't agree with you that Putin is that stupid.

A million pages ago, I was asked whether I believed Putin would resort to nuclear weapons. This was my response:

quote:

I don't believe so, no. I think Putin is a narcissist, and believing that he is capable of micromanaging everything makes him look like an idiot, but I don't believe he's actually an idiot. Nor do I believe he's insane. I think he's just been drinking his own koolaid for a bit too long. I think he understands that using any nuclear weapon, regardless of size or impact, would mean crossing the Rubicon as far as the rest of the world is concerned, and even he's not enough of a narcissist to believe he can survive that.

Another poster responded, basically saying that Putin might view using nuclear weapons as his only way of survival. I replied with this:

quote:

But there's survival, and then there's survival. If Putin believes nukes would have him win the war and leave him safe and comfortable in Russia for the rest of his life, I think he might be tempted. But if he believes that using nukes would potentially leave him as a hunted man internationally, if he thinks there is any chance that he might still lose the war even if he used nukes, I'm not sure he will take that risk. He's a narcissist, but I think he'd rather step down and retire with his millions/billions in the countryside somewhere than end up hanged in the street or put on trial at the Hague.
