Surprising that the Zelensky photos are one

All the normal caveats - nonetheless interesting/funny videos if you haven't seen them

Maybe. I do find it interesting, but they’re also being shutout of media too in many cases.
What’s your take? Literally asking out of curiosity, not a gotcha.

The media also didn’t spread a video from a video game stating that Russian planes were shot down, but they did come out and correct the info online.
There is simply too much “flak” being spread online to know what is actually going on.

I wonder how Russian forces are going to handle the preparation we've seen in cities like Dnipro, Odessa, Kyiv. If they're having trouble even advancing to the cities, how are they going to manage drunk patriotic ukranians tossing fireballs at them

He specifically invited all media around the world to go to Ukraine and report from the front lines.

The Snake Island folks have been confirmed and reported by multiple respectable media outlets, as opposed the individual, no-name people you have quoted from Twitter.
All your other "facts" are from individuals - though I don't believe the Ghost of Kiev.
The only screenshots that are reputable are from Reuters, and I don't think too many people were widely running with those.

quote:Good post. Some of these guys seem to think that they're the only ones aware of what propaganda is while simultaneously managing to completely misunderstand that it serves a purpose beyond furthering their pet conspiracies.
Unfortunately we live in an age where everyone assumes (sometimes for good reason) everyone else is stupid and has no ability to take a nuanced take like "yes I know it's propaganda, yes I'm still supporting Ukraine, no I don't want the US to go to war, yes I understand how propaganda can lead to situations that could make it hard for us to stay out"

I think they're focusing their propaganda internally, as they know the rest of the world is not going to believe a single fricking word they say, nor does anyone want them to be successful.

Who would be distributing Russian propaganda outside of Russia?
Hard to know exactly, but Putin is still verified and on Twitter

If they have to pump out that much sunshine, how bad is it actually getting there?
This is what I’m wondering. People without combat experience are downplaying the significance of how quickly Russia reached Kyiv. That does not happen without Ukraine suffering massive losses.

It's interesting that Russia has made bigger gains in the South than the East. Seems like the conventional wisdom is Kharkiv would be target #1 and fall relatively quickly and that hasn't held up at all.
Conventional wisdom only insofar as it was thought that Russia might only invade the East. The Ukranian army has had almost a decade of establishing a military presence to defend against invasions from the east.

Well that and that all their propoganda seems to be if the " we weren't actually attacking but we're going to today"
Variety. Even with the Chechen guy probably shows how it's going for them
Additionally the propoganda war is going to be massive here.
Ukraine is never going to actually win this war
They need to hold out/ convince people that they're doing well enough for either
A) Putin to get toppled by the oligarchs
B) a negotiation where they generally get favorable terms
C) the West to at the very least let the other Eastern block nations like Poland to join in
They'll obviously get worn down if this is going to last like a month but there's no way in hell Putin lasts that long

While this is usually a joke when I post about this comedian, Tim Dillon apparently has a comedian friend on the ground in Ukraine and the next episode is interviewing him. Should be an entertaining episode about this serious situation.
EDIT: Thinking it through, Zelensky was (no joke) an actual comedian before running for office, so hell, it may be Zelensky himself.
EDIT 2: Again (no joke) Louis CK is in Ukraine for a stand up special. Tim heavily defended Louie during his scandal which got him on Rogan’s radar and now he’s one of his most frequent recurring guests. My bet is his podcast is with Louie since Zelensky has way bigger things to worry about than an American comedian’s podcast.

I think Ukraine has certainly responded to Russia in a way that was unexpected. Putin himself would likely say he underestimated them at the start of this.
The reality though is that without direct NATO involvement, Ukraine will fall eventually. Russia reaching Kyiv as quickly as they did is telling.

I also don't get the end game of people on here/ commentators on Twitter and Tucker going conspiratorial on this. It is obvious that the results are in the middle of what we're being shown by both Russia and Ukraine.
What's the point of going on cable TV and sucking off Putin/ saying it's a media hoax unless you're getting paid by the Russians. Him and Trump were close that's fine whatever but the people siding with the Russian hoax shite on this are going full LeBron with China

The screenshots I provided are from people a lot more credible than many of on the ground footage links shared in here. Not a criticism, but if you’re going to be skeptical of individuals on Twitter that should apply to ones with these clips that appear to have been either old, from a movie, from a video game, etc. That was my only point to begin with.
We have zero incentive to trust the “respectable media outlets” either. That’s been very much shown in the last 2 decades, but particularly the last 6-7 years. I have the same general skepticism for them as individuals. How did those media outlets verify the Snake Island 13? What’s their sourcing?
ETA: I presented none of it as “facts”

The US and UK have confirmed Snake Island...
But, yes, I get that everyone is trying to build Ukraine up right now, and rightfully so.
At least you responded accordingly, unlike nuggie.

They are still outside of Kiev and my understanding is they unnexpectedly went through Belarus and then through the Chernobyl exclusion zone to reach where they did. That was good tactics, but not exactly a sign of a strong military push as far as I’ve seen?
Let’s remember that Ukraine border Russia. They had the ability to mobilize and prepare in their home country with all of their resources. Comparing this to the US push in Iraq or anywhere else in the Middle East would be mostly absurd, the resources available would be completely different.
