UPDATE ON UKRAINE 31 August 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE

Ukrainian armoured forces have continued to assault Russia's Southern Grouping of Forces on several axes across the south of the country since Monday. Ukrainian formations have pushed the front line back some distance in places, exploiting relatively thinly held Russian defences.

In line with its doctrine, Russia will likely now attempt to plug the gaps in its line using pre-designated mobile reserve units. These will likely include some of those from the Eastern Grouping of Forces.

Russia continues to expedite attempts to generate new reinforcements for Ukraine. Volunteer battalions of the new 3rd Army Corps had departed their home base near Moscow by 24 August, highly likely for onward deployment to Ukraine. The operational effectiveness of these units is not known. The 3rd Army Corps is highly likely short of personnel and these troops have had limited training.

Ukraine's intelligence: Russia began covert mobilization in Moscow, St. Petersburg. Ukraine's Intelligence Directorate reported that the military commissariats of Russia's two biggest cities were instructed to conscript residents for further deployment to occupied Crimea.

Mighty Russia is scared that they might lose what their stolen unsinkable aircraft carrier (Crimea) which they had to evacuate their planes from already.

Two leading officials in #Germany's Economy Ministry are under suspicion of working for #Moscow, both in key positions for German energy security. They apparently had a very pro-Russian stance and even obstructed Habeck's policies in the last months.
Not surprising

Oh look the F**king Germans got caught playing both sides again.

They are now in range of conventional artillery.

Unlike Russia. Ukraine is trying not to randomly shell Ukrainian cities into rubble. Their artillery will be used to keep the supply lines closed and starve the Russians into surrender.

ISW Update from Aug 30th

quote:

Ukrainian forces began striking Russian pontoon ferries across the Dnipro River on August 29, which is consistent with the start of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. The effects of destroying ferries will likely be more ephemeral than those of putting bridges out of commission, so attacking them makes sense in conjunction with active ground operations

quote:

Ukrainian forces have long undertaken efforts to destroy Russian ground lines of communication (GLOCs) prior to the announcement of the counteroffensive operation, which likely indicates that Ukrainian forces are committed to a long-term effort - composed of both strikes and ground assaults.

quote:

The Ukrainian counteroffensive is thus a cohesive process that will require some time to correctly execute

quote:

Russian forces are continuing to react and adjust their positions throughout southern Ukraine, likely both as a response to the ongoing Ukrainian counteroffensive and in preparation for broader Ukrainian counter-offensives further east.

quote:

The Ukrainian counteroffensive is likely driving Russian redeployment and reprioritization throughout the theater.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is likely setting conditions for the coerced cultural assimilation of displaced Ukrainians in Russia to erase their Ukrainian cultural identity

Most excellent up to date info on the war - and ONLY the war.

I am very surprised that Ukraine has the manpower to still be in this fight. The Russian strategy will be to use artillery to attrite the Ukraine ground forces out of existence. I still think that's Russia's best strategy.

This sounds more like two “compromised” German officials were working to undermine their own Vice-Chancellor’s official policy.

Lately I’ve been thinking that Russia is counting on the Ukrainian desire not to level their own cities in order to drive the Russians out. But Ukraine may have to accept that more shelling may be required in order to succeed.

Do you think this comment that you repeat over and over is witty, smart, profound, or insightful? It's not and you repeating it again and again just shows how stupid of a person you really are.

Russia seems more interested in brainwashing people than in supplying their troops. Look how fast their people take over and take over society.

Tgry say they aren’t Communists anymore, but this is right out of the Commie handbook.,

That is it. When you go into those rural Russian and Ukrainian villages its like you have stepped back in time 80 years. The poverty in some of those places is unbelievable. Communism really did a number on that part of the world.
