Force Majeure? That is for issues beyond one's control. The invasion is entirely within Russia's control. Furthermore, the payment in Dollars and Euros is provided by the contracts.
It's unclear what the force majeure would be based on.

This is where I thought we’d end up from the start, but admittedly I thought Germany would receive substantial pressure from the west to stop importing vs Russia stopping their exporting. Either way forces some very serious decision making on Germany and by proxy others in the EU.
I’m no energy expert, but this represents a lot of power loss and they don’t seem to have much ability to replace it. Industrial output, consumer demand will have to adjust. People will not be happy. German govt will be under significant pressure from their population.

Germany should have seen this coming at some point in time in the last 20 years. Russia has been using natural gas as a weapon. Shame on them for not planning for this contingency.

Remember when people said the sanctions weren't working...

Russian President Vladimir Putin vows to overcome the “colossal” high-tech problems the country is facing due to the onset of unprecedented Western sanctions over Ukraine.
The Kremlin chief says the West had deployed sanctions to cut off Russia from high-tech products to contain the country’s development.
“This is a huge challenge for our country,” he told a meeting.
“Realizing the colossal amount of difficulties we are facing, we will look for new solutions in an energetic and competent manner.”

Putin is wrong. According to the red brigade here Russia is booming and selling oil at record profits.

Per Paul, they were boats about 16 feet long with an array of large outboards to get the speeds they achieved. Whatever Mercury was making in the mid 70's.

Cool.
I didn’t have any experience with those. They sound interesting though.

Russian-origin fuel oil
This would signify Mazut a heavy fuel oil which Valero was importing to blend with that light stuff from Texas to make it refinable, in lieu of what would have come down Keystone XL. I was under the impression that Saudi Arabia used natural gas as its feedstock for power generation. Russian refineries are so inefficient and don't dig as deep into the barrel as even Saudi Refineries do.

What I find funny about this is that both oil and natural gas are still flowing from Russia through Ukraine.

I have very little sympathy for them. Just within the last couple weeks they refused to allow the 3 remaining nuclear reactors to continue operation past 2022. What they did to their nuclear generation capacity is almost beyond belief.

Paul did well, dropped out of college for the Navy because he wasn't getting all A's went back got his degree then masters (Civil engineering) ended up being very high up the food chain with Shell Deepwater Offshore before retiring. Being in the Navy helped boost his career early on.

Russian natural gas and oil still flows through Ukraine with complete access to it.

What would a Ukrainian counter-offensive in Kherson look like?
July 19, 2022 12:23 am by Illia Ponomarenko
One way or another, according to Ukraine’s leadership, it's bound to happen.
Even though the Battle of Donbas is far from over, Ukraine is expected to open the next chapter of the war sometime in the near future — a highly anticipated, major counter-offensive operation in the south, particularly to liberate the Russian-occupied city of Kherson.
Kyiv has declared its intentions to liberate the only regional capital captured by Russia following the Feb. 24 full-scale invasion.

This is fairly mindblowing to me.

Even though it’s common knowledge, I’m not sure why Kiev has their primary target publicized like that.

No process controls to stop it all valves are still opened and closed by hand. These were the first pipelines to the West out of Russia

Well Ukraine could blow them up. I suspect they’ve been left alone because their flows supply european nations who’ve supported Ukraine and other whom are the leaders of the EU which they want to join.
