This would have more meaning if the two sides were equals prior to the invasion.
Nonetheless, I admire the Ukrainian people.

Okay. I was just stating a fact. Not sure why you always feel the need to argue with me.

1. Russia has conscription and they’re at war. I assure you they’re training replacements. Seriously, what made you think they’re not training replacements.
2. Russia is taking huge losses. Thats true. What’s also true is when it comes to war, Russians are famous for taking massive losses and they keep on going. In 1914 alone the Russians lost almost 1.5 million men. They fought on for another three years losing another 4.5 million killed. And when the Revolution came in 1917, followed by the Russian Civil War, another 10 million Russians were killed. Twenty years later in WWII, over 20 million Russians were killed. So in a roughly 30 year timespan between 1914 and 1945, somewhere around 35-40 million Russians died due to war. High death tolls is nothing they’re not use to.
If we’re talking a war of attrition, between Russia and Ukraine, Russia will win that war every time.

The people in Donbas must be so grateful for Russia coming to their aid and giving their citizenry the first opportunity to attack the Nationalists prepared defenses. I’ve seen several accounts that suggest that some communities in Donbas have lost half their military aged males to combat attrition. In addition to the absolute removal of all infrastructure in these battle torn towns, the communities are just going to be devastated by the loss of all their men. Russia should have cut their losses after the first week didn’t go well.

ISW Is struggling.
Here are two examples
In this sentence they suggest they’re trying to hide a mobilization process in a dishonest way, the Kremlin is manipulating.
And they’re going to do this, by offering young men the opportunity to volunteer directly for service, instead of serving as conscripts first?
The Russians have been moving through a belt of towns around Bakhmut, to the east and south, and will invest the town in the next few days. But ISW describes the Russian operation as an effort to maintain control. This suggests the Russians are on the defensive, the Ukrainians are on the offensive, which isn’t true.

Kremlin continues to manipulate Russian legislation to carry out “covert mobilization”

offer contracts to young men immediately upon “coming of age” or graduating high school, thus circumventing the need to complete military service as conscripts.

Russian forces are conducting operations to the east of Bakhmut to maintain control of the T1302 Bakhmut-Lysychansk highway.

But they are doing it in the setting of a demographic crisis. They don't have an infinite supply of young men. The median age in the country is 40 years old. The total fertility rate hasn't been at replacement since 1989. They've had more deaths than births 28 out of the last 32 years. The demographic data looks cataclysmic.

I agree with you, Russia has the advantage in available bodies.
What will be key to mitigating that advantage is Ukraine turning out better trained and equipped replacements. Is Ukraine doing that? I really have no idea beyond anecdotal evidence. There are media reports out now that the CIA is actively supporting Ukraine and we've been assisting with the training of their troops for years. But, Russia can field and sustain a lot more casualties than Ukraine. I think the real question is, how many soldiers does Russia consider too many? Russian Military History is not on Ukraine's side.

PSA for you:
quote:
It's not known whether chemotherapy drugs can be passed to your partner through bodily fluids. Because of this, the recommendation is to use a condom for vaginal or anal sex or a dental dam for oral sex for at least 48 to 72 hours after treatment. This can help prevent or at least minimize the passing of bodily fluids.
Make sure you bag it when blowing Putin we wouldn't want your eyebrows to fall out.

Its true the long-term demographics of Russia are not good. But they can sustain losses in this war today on a scale Ukraine cannot hope to match.
As I said earlier in a related thread, the military situation on the ground has swung in Russia’s favor and Ukraine does not have the military capability to reverse it. The longer this war goes, the worse the situation will get for Ukraine. Unless they sue for peace, they face eventual complete military collapse. Their best move at this point is to sue for peace while they still have a chance at anything resembling acceptable terms.
I don’t say any of this from a pro-anyone standpoint. I am just an objective neutral observer who knows a thing or two.

Russia could overwhelm Ukraine with a full mobilization but Putin has been reluctant to play that card. So far he's feeding reinforcements in piecemeal and most analysts think a crunch is coming. Even if Russia mobilizes, it would take several months to field the new army, which would give Ukraine a window of opportunity.
Ukraine has at least 100k or more troops still in reserve. Maybe they're not ready yet, maybe they still need equipment, or maybe Ukraine is waiting for Russia to punch itself out. I don't know which it is. At any rate, Ukraine is going to have a manpower advantage in the near to medium term, despite how it looks right now.

Yeah Victoria Nuland and her cuck husband and brother in law sure as shite know what it takes to win in combat tactically. No wonder the Ukraine Armed Forces are using bullshite terms like tactical withdrawal.
How embarrassing.

This board really does read more and more like German newspapers circa 1945 as each day goes by. We’re reaching Hitler bunker levels of delusion.
