Idiotic leaders of this country haven’t learned a thing from Afghanistan, Iraq, or Vietnam.
Neither has Putin. At least in Iraq we were able to "win" more than 1/6th of the country.

That was a given the day Russia invaded, and launched their scorch earth policy
With EU /American/ G7 support I'm sure Ukraine can recover. They can only improve on the depressing Soviet era Krushcyovka buildings I'm seeing destroyed.

Putin will take Kyiv any day now. All part of his master plan.
Must be crazy seeing that Russia has them in full retreat after gullibly swallowing the western propaganda a month and a half ago.
Keep up the good fight.

Full retreat all the way back to Kyiv. Kyiv will fall any day now.

Interesting how all the Russian bots show up at the same time. It's 7:55 AM in St Petersburg.

The Putin bros have gone from predicting kyiv and Odessa to celebrating farm land and some obscure towns none of them had ever heard of until last month. Small victories. Now Russia gets to administer over a bunch of rubble and a hostile insurgency #winning

They are administering over 80% of Ukraine’s energy and the access to the Black Sea. Kind of important.

The Russians immediate objective is the destruction of the Ukrainian Army.
These recent losses matter because they present an opportunity for the Russians to inflict heavy casualties on an enemy who is now in an indefensible position. They can die in place, surrender, or try to flee.
The physical value of the towns taken is nonexistent, except that losing them puts the Ukrainians in that very vulnerable position.
There is a political value in taking them though.

Very very important turning point for this war happening just an couple hours ago. Russia used Belarus to launch missiles into Ukraine again. America warned against this months ago Putin has crossed a hard line set forth by US and NATO. That please don’t use our howitzers to strike into Russia directive may be null and void. A whole lot more may now be on the table actually.

That would be a waste of resources for Ukraine.

On the contrary, depending on the targets ie train stations military depots staging areas and refineries et al this would be a great use of resources. Preemptive. Regardless, this is a catastrophic decision taken by Putin as a way of signalling his anger at EU candidacy. There is a myriad of ways retaliatory measures could start happening without fingerprints. Better ways- hearing Belarusian Military which was simmering is at full boil now.

British Defence Intelligence
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 25 June 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
Ukraine is likely re-configuring its defence of the Sieverodonetsk-Lysychansk sector, as Russian armoured units continue to make creeping gains on the southern edge of the build up area.
Since the start of June, the Russian high command has highly likely removed several Generals from key operational command roles in the war in Ukraine. These includes the commander of Airborne Forces VDV General-Colonel Andrei Serdyukov; and commander Southern Group of Forces (SGF) General of the Army Alexandr Dvornikov. Dvornikov was also for a time probably acting as over-all operational commander.
Command of the SGF is likely to transfer to Colonel-General Sergei Surovikin, as SGF continues to perform a central part in Russia's offensive in the Donbas. For over thirty years, Surovikin's career has been dogged with allegations of corruption and brutality,

The west won’t do anything real about it. The leaders are weak virtue signalers. All the sanctions amounted to nothing as they almost always do. Putin was willing to put nikes on the table from the start while we were already saying no troops would be involved.

Russia launched rockets on Ukraine from the territory of Belarus – intelligence
"Today’s attack is linked to the Kremlin’s attempts to drag Belarus into the war with Ukraine as a direct participant," – states the intelligence chief directorate.
6 Tu-22M3 planes were used in the attack. Twelve X-22 cruise missiles were launched from the area of Pietrykaw, a town not far from Mazyr, located approximately 50-60 km from the state border of Ukraine."
Details: According to intelligence data, the bombers took off from the "Shaykovka" air-base in Russia’s Kaluga Oblast, entered the air-space of Belarus via Smolensk Oblast, launched the missiles and returned to "Shaykovka".
The Russians hit Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts.
