The surplus tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, MLRS, and artillery that Ukraine is asking for, don’t exist.

After looking at the map I'm not sure they can reach the Kerch Strait even with MLRS unless they have some unadvertised longer range rounds. Manned aircraft could do it I suppose. Something else?

As a Army brat you wouldn't have heard it as it's only used in the Navy or Coast Guard



Plankowner is an member of the crew that commission the ship..ie the first crew of a brand new ship. When a ship decommissioned members of the original crew used to get a Plank from the ship to keep. It used to be only 10% of the Navy got to be Plankowner I don't know what the percentage is now. Being selected to be a Plankowner is kinda prestigious. So when my ship finally decommissions there will be a ceremony and all the members of the first crew , that were there before it commissioned will be invited and given part of the ship.

When a Plank owner is leaving the ship (command) for the last time they ring the bell and go over the ships com ( 1MC) with "Plankowner Departing".

Couple of interesting statements today:

US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Thursday that the United States has purposefully “refrained from laying out what we see as an end game” for the war in Ukraine and will “not be pressuring [Ukraine] to make territorial concessions” to Russia, but noted that the US has been in talks with Ukraine about what a settlement could look like.

That's no joke. Soldiers have indeed suffered destruction of their digestive systems because of MREs.

It takes a lot to knock down a bridge to the extent it can't be quickly repaired. And I'm sure that location is heavily defended. I think of this as them giving the Russians something else so worry about more than an actual threat.
