Stepson is a landman of sorts. Oil and gas attorney in Denver. He has a business called the Minerals Guy that is pretty interesting on Linkedin, instagram, youtube, etc. He is excited about this show so I will be curious to hear his take on it

I hadn't heard of the show but was having lunch with 2 buddies of mine a while back, both of them working in the landman business and one of them mentioned that there was going to be a landman show. I just assumed it was going to be a comedy from the nonsense that it sounds like they have to deal with.

Good series- but his character still reminds you of "Bad Santa."

Man.
There is the crappiest Walmart ever in Pay-Cus.

Also. Don’t sleep on the KFC for Fried Chicken.

And there is always Alsup’s with the gas station fried stuff.

Pecos has a very cosmopolitan underbelly to explore.

The explosion scene was dumb as frick.

Hitting the wrench was retarded, should’ve used the bigger pipe wrench or a cheater pipe from the start. And also, I think the part of the wrench he was hitting is aluminum anyway, which doesn’t spark.

Not bad otherwise. The whole “he can cum anywhere on me” was wild, but whatever. Having foul mouthed whores kind of just comes with the Taylor Sheridan territory.

I like Billy Bob and Jon Hamm so I’ll keep watching.

I liked it. Billy Bob is great in almost everything. It felt much less soap opera style than Yellowstone which was nice.

Taylor Sheridan wrote it, so you can guarantee he took every stereotype in the book, magnified it by 1000x to the point of absurdity, and tried to shoehorn every term/phrase/slogan/shibboleth/etc. into it.

50lbs of shite stuffed in a 5lb sack.

It got a lot of details right. Some of it was dumb, but overall, I enjoyed it.

I wasn't offended by the over-the-top sexualization of his 17 yr old daughter. But it got old and awkward creepy really quick. It's a dumb subplot that I bet you disappears really quick. They went as far as showing her bare arse running out the bathroom when the dirty engineer walked in. I know the actor is 27 but she's playing a child and talks about getting cummed on by her boyfriend to her father for fricks sake.

I like the show a lot so far though. Can't wait for next episode.

To me, Billy Bob is must see in anything he does. I watched the first episode and is got off to a strong start. I like all the details of oil & gas industry and the money it generates and the impact it has on everyone.

One caveat...Tommy Norris' (BBT) 17 year-old daughter's scenes were cringe-worthy. So unbelievable the way she talks to her dad about sex and prances around in panties in front of a bunch of men who are strangers to her. Her boyfriend storyline was horrible.

Not what the guys I know that work as landman do. They aren’t involved past negotiating lease rights etc. The title probably just worked

I worked for several months at the courthouse in St. Helena parish and their clerks were so passive aggressive they made DMV and TSA staff look helpful. If the Landman series doesn’t include the following, it’s not realistic: - 1) driving 2 hours each way to a courthouse in bumfrick nowhere. - 2) standing around for 9 hours pulling books. - 3) eating a diet solely comprised of gas station food. - 4) fielding a call on Friday afternoon from your prospect manager at his cushy office in Lafayette asking you to send him a picture of a plat map at 4:30 because he’s checking to see if you’re really working. - 5) losing countless hours of sleep because some sheikh farted wrong over the weekend and oil dropped $3 a barrel and now your job might be in jeopardy. - 6) fighting with your broker who is 87 days behind in sending checks. - 7) listening to old people and fatties argue about who gets to use the 4 chairs and table in the deed room.

I am an abstractor searching surface rights and have worked right along side some of these baws. And damn if that ain’t pretty spot on. There were a few that were local un the county I worked that were cool to work with, but there were some that came in as an entire crew and would take of a record room and be there for months. It could get test at times if they didn’t follow the rules of the clerk’s office, but most just tried to do their job.

That's the contract landmen. The company landmen have a slightly more exciting life.....they eat better and only spend a few days in Pecos.

But, there are many divorced, alcoholic landmen in severe debt hiding out from their ex spouses

I liked it although it seems like Yellowstone, but instead of Cowboys it’s Oilmen. Billy Bob Thornton seems like an absolute weirdo in real life, but as an actor, he always plays a good character.
