To cut medical is a sin. We have a serious mental health issue in the state and they’ve now made if worse. The homeless situation is bad and it’s about to get worse

Is dept of health being cut or is it just not including budget increases JBE wanted?

ETA read article closely.

They aren’t “cutting” healthcare however by nixing the increase the state loses out on $700 million dollars in federal funds. Our state is run by idiots

The Louisiana republicans are beyond embarrassing. One of the many reasons the state remains corrupt and broken

It was a good idea to reduce the funding for that entirely useless department. He should stand by his vote.

Also - why the frick did they vote for it if they don't like what's in it?

Because they admittedly did not read it. This comment should be used against every politician involved during all future campaigns. But the reality is, no one will give a shite and most people will vote for the name they recognize.

Among those regretting their approval of the budget was Senate Finance Committee chairperson Bodi White, a longtime Republican lawmaker who sat on the six-person committee that crafted the fiscal amendments behind closed doors. The committee comprised both House and Senate members.

Yet Bodi White will continuously get re-elected until he retires. Get your shite together BR Area GOP.

The Republican leadership held their breath, stomped their feet, and slashed funding to punish 15 Republican members who didn't want to increase the spending limit. Now they're saying "Whoopsee!"

So the jist of this is if you don’t have enough time to look at the budget and they fixing to vote on it you always vote yes? Did I get that right?

Because if I don’t have enough time to go over the budget and the vote is coming up I’m voting NO every damn time but that’s just me.

It's too bad Bodi is so new to the legislative process and was so far outside of the decision-making loop that he couldn't have possibly seen this co-

The Dems are organized and unified. If they had their way things would be much more professional. Social programs, teacher raises, the nursing home people, and all of their friends will be taken care of. They will raise taxes in a heart beat.

With the Republicans it’s disorganized chaos and everyone trying to bring some goodies for their district. They don’t act in unison and they carry grudges. But they won’t raise taxes unless there’s a gun to their head.
