Chicago is awesome. Houston and NYC suck.
I still go back every summer bc I love the city and weather during the summer.
Once I get to the OT Billionaire Baller status, I’ll have a condo in Chicago for 3 months out of the year

As in several years or til you retire.

Houston or Chicago.
I hear Chicago is very underrated, the bad part is the weather.
Then again Houston’s weather might could be even worse…

Chicago suburbs are almost certainly superior to Houston’s

San Diego is the GOAT of this discussion but also pretty expensive.
Where does Seattle factor in here?

If you’re serious about building a career, Houston hands down. Lowest cost of living and you’ll be able accrue a lot more wealth in the long term.
NYC and LA aren’t worth it unless you’re willing to sacrifice quality of life for a fast-paced, high-stress lifestyle where you’ll have very little privacy. The entertainment and nightlife in those cities are far better but they aren’t ideal cities for building a career.

1. Houston
2.Chicago
3. NYC
4.LA
Houston and Chicago are very close, but I’ll take a hot summer over a cold winter.

I’ve heard Chicago burbs are great. Elaborate on this

chicago actually rules, despite what you hear about it. Some parts are super rough but I lived there for years in Kenwood/hyde park and it was great. a lot of the suburbs are great too. just stay away from the west side.
but for real, its a great city with a lot to do and the best museums are architecture in the country.

They still have a long cold winter and salt is death to vehicles. Summertime you can take your FIB arse "up north" into Wisconsin.

I’ve worked in all four. LA just no. Chicago and NYC are “nice” when the client is paying for my $300 a night hotel room and I walk two blocks to get to work, eating out all the time. No H-E-B, I’m out. Nevermind income taxes, government etc.

More people live in NYC, so it’s clearly the most livable.

I certainly like NYC and Chicago more than Houston in a vacuum, but I could move to Houston and it wouldn’t be a major change to how my family operates. So Houston.

Agree 100%. I always wonder in threads like this how many responders have ever traveled to these places.
