Construction will bring some jobs and economic boost.
But what about once they are running? Are they really going to employ that many locals? Or just a few people to swap out servers when needed while any other work is done by a guy sitting in India?

The time to push back against data centers and advancing technology was 80 years ago.
The only reason why this is happening now is a coordinated propaganda effort.
None of you people said one fricking word when data centers were being built so you can stream Netflix.

True, but most real-estate deals are between private entities. I don't have a reason not to trust them. I have NO reason to trust politicians or state agencies. And no real reason to trust the utilities. If public funds are being used, the public should have access to all the information. Pretty simple.
We've been told "don't worry about it" more times than we can count. And in almost every incidence, something was done, promised, or missed that ended up costing the citizens. That's why transparency became a thing. Neither the state nor the data centers are offering transparency, so its not unreasonable to find skepticism about them.

The Richland Parish DC will have around 600 full time employees. Will staff network engineers, HVAC techs, electricians, Facilities manager, and security.
Hut 8 in West fel will have half that probably.

Some people are against any form of economic development NDAS are needed to compete against other states THe Spade X is huge for state for long term The media will do anything to try and create backlash against Landry while tbey covered for JBE during his disastrous tenure STate finally has economic momentum and more stuff is on the way

I haven't followed this data center crap at all.
Can someone please tell me what the argument against these are? Seems like they're a net positive for the areas they're built in, but as I said I have no idea.

You will never get a straight answer. There’s been a ton of communist Chinese propaganda pushed out to scare people into opposing data centers. The Chinese don’t want the US to compete with them in the AI arms race.
