What was Governor Bel Boucher doing in a nursing home? Doesn’t he want to “stop the spread”? That’s what he preaches to us about all the time. I guess it’s ok for him to go see granny but not the commoners

Agreed. Would be entirely too confusing which states are in xST or xDT

I don't have an opinion one way or the other, but they're basing this on nursing home visitors being able to get home before dark?

Yes, leave it on standard time year round. Wake your lazy asses up earlier if you “want the extra daylight”.

I'm just waiting on federal support in my state. I hate all candidates for president but whomever seems most likely to make this happen or legalize weed gets my vote. I only vote in issues that matter.

So your allowed to stay on standard time but need federal approval to stay on daylight savings time?

This is correct. The law currently would allow any state to choose to remain on standard time year round if they'd wish.

Several states want to remain on DST year-round, which the current wording of the law does not permit. So they pass this type of law instead that says they will when able to do so.

I think I'd prefer DST all year too, but think how stupid this shite would get if every other state was different.

Pick one or the other, or if nobody can decide, don't change anything.

Dang it. I like going to bed at 7pm in the winter.

Is there something in this legislation that regulates bed times or something? I'm pretty sure you can still do that.

Standard is better. When they first set the clocks back my alarm goes off at night. If they didn't do that (or even started DST on Memorial Day), I'd be waking up with the sunrise which is more natural.

DST also means it takes longer for the sun to find its home in the western sky on a Saturday night in Death Valley.

The states that remain DST are on the edges of time zones so it's not that big of a deal. LA is dead center in the middle of CST. That may cause some issues.
